  1. Nothing like handing the Dodgers a game. Ridiculous
  2. Alvarez is now bad on offense and defense. Whoever is working with him isn't doing him any favors. But still we had our MVP up and came up empty.
  3. Leadoff walk. Bad defense. Gifted them two runs. Awful.
  4. Buehler looking sharper than I had hoped. We'll need to be sharper.
  5. Fewer owners like Reinsdorf is a good thing. So long as he's not replaced by someone worse.
  6. Has anyone seen a recent picture of Cespedes? I'm super curious to see what he looks like. I can picture him anywhere from like 185 lbs (stopped juicing, stopped lifting, got David Wright skinny) to 350 lbs (stopped working out, kept eating).
  7. I'm glad to see whatever conflict there may have been between Cespedes and the Wilpons hasn't extended to this regime. I get that things ended poorly but Yo provided some of the best moments of the Wilpon years.
  8. Or "We are the (National League) Champions"
  9. I'm there too. I guess part of this is growing up. More of this is the state of the country. But I think childhood me would be very surprised I'd pick a presidential election over the Mets winning the World Series.
  10. My big concern now is that I have a gig booked for Friday, from 5-8 PM of all times, at a hotel restaurant/bar downtown. Hopefully they can have the game on and I can keep tabs on it while I play/sing "I liked our soloist, but man, that show took a dark turn there at the end. What was with that song selection at the end?" "Not sure, but I saw him glance at the TV and suddenly his whole demeanor changed..."
  11. Genie shows up and says you have to pick one. No hedging. No options. No details other than the choices given.
  12. I was hoping to see Iglesias up there for utility. Maybe he got called up too late. Lindor certainly seems like a gold glove candidate to me. He makes every routine play, makes almost all the hard plays, and makes some spectacular ones too. I just don't really know how you gauge his play against all other shortstops. I know I haven't seen any of the finalists to enough to be able to say Lindor is definitively better, but I kinda doubt the ones who decide this have seen enough to say he isn't. In these things, usually the superstar gets the benefit of the doubt.
  13. Buehler spent two months in the IL with a hip injury. And before that he was recovering from Tommy John. So all in all, not a great regular season for him. 5.38 ERA, 1.55 WHIP. (4.93 ERA, 1.591 WHIP after he came back from the 2 month stint). His last five starts in September were kind of a mixed bag. 4.44 ERA over 26.1 IP. Though he had a nice outing against the Padres in his last regular season game (5IP, 1ER). Got hit hard in his one start in the Division Series against those same Padres. 5 IP, 6 ER. Severino has made two starts in the postseason, once against Milwaukee, once against the Phillies, each time pitching 6 innings and giving up 3 ER. He lost that first game in Atlanta before the hurricane, though if I remember correctly, there was some bad defense that hurt him along the way. His two prior starts before that were against Philadelphia where he pitched, you guessed it, 6 innings and gave up 3 ER. What does this all this mean for Wednesday? Probably nothing! But at least it suggests the Mets have a good chance to take the series lead. ESPN says the Mets have a 53.7% chance to win.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Anybody remember my 'Even the wins are hard' thread from late May or there abouts? I think it still applies, even in games with 2nd inning grand slams. I thought of that! Like those games the Mets failed to tack on.
  15. Lefty Specialist wrote: I can finally come out from behind the chainsaws. This make me lol.
  16. Walking batters with a multi run lead. Makes no sense.
