  1. Latest from Martino. This could be interesting...thoughts on "bombshell candidates"? @martinonyc 1h1 hour ago One person connected to team has said a “bombshell candidate” is in the mix if a clear favorite does not emerge from the current group. Have fun with that one. No way David Wright would ever do this so don't go down that road btw
  2. =41Forever post_id=24879 time=1571748629 user_id=69] You're thinking fans in general love Girardi? Not sure I agree with that one. I always thought he looked like was a passed ball away from having a stroke. I'm a little detached being outside of the New York area, but are people really clamoring for a Yankee reject? I don't know if fan opinion carries a lot of weight in these decisions. If Brodie likes Perez and thinks he's the guy to take the team to the next level, he'll hire him. Same with Beltran or anyone else on the list.
  3. Girardi never struck me as a jerk. I didn't like him because of his Yankeeness, but otherwise he seemed OK. My conspiratorial conjecture as this drags on: Management knows the fans (in general) love Girardi--so they make a point of interest and bring him in to interview. BVW really likes Perez (photogenic, well-known, wouldn't imagine he'd be looking for too much control). This is my conjecture. Management knows fans in general will not be thrilled with a Perez hire when the Phils will be hiring either Buck or Girardi. So ownership compromises and hires Beltran, whose name carries some weight, and will appease at least a few of the fans irate that they didn't get their Girardi choice.
  4. Per Deadspin, before the Astros scooped up this baseball genius, he was "a former fantasy baseball expert and investment banker." Can't possibly imagine that guy being a dick.

  7. Is there a single link somewhere that shows the birthplaces of minor leaguers? BBR has it for major leaguers. Also a suggestion? If you're dealing with a small state (like JCL's Delaware Blue Hens) maybe make an allowance for college players who were born elsewhere? For instance, let's say University of Delaware had three players from Texas. Those three guys are likely not cracking the Texas team, but maybe they could play for the Delaware team? One of the little Solos is an undergrad at UD, maybe she could be JCL's assistant GM and do some scouting.
  8. I posted in this in the middle of what was to become the Kurt Suzuki walkoff game. I kind of feel like I'm responsible for all that has happened since. Re: IGT 09/03 - Metropolitans at Nationals Post by HahnSolo » Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:56 pm God the Nats are bad. How the hell are we trailing these guys?
  9. Real 2015 Mets vibes coming from the Nat.
  10. Terrible baserunning by Ozuna too, after that leadoff double in the second. When the game was scoreless.
  11. =G-Fafif post_id=24405 time=1571074905 user_id=55] Eduardo Perez added to the interview list.
  12. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Fonzie, if I'm not mistaken, has experience limited to a terrible team in Brooklyn They did win the NYPL championship this year. So yeah, he's limited to Brooklyn but not all terrible.
  13. =LWFS post_id=24034 time=1570585195 user_id=84] Beltran's not a realistic option?
  14. If three of the final four teams left turn out to be the Yanks, Braves, and Nats, I might just shut off baseball until next year.
  15. Not that I agree with him, but I have an MFY acquaintance who really wanted to avoid the Rays...to the point that he didn't want the best overall record just so they could avoid TBR in this round. Even if it meant giving up home field in the ALCS. I mean, that meant playing Minnesota, so they got a first round bye.
  16. And Houston is the 7th biggest TV market. Not like they're in Buffalo or something. No offense to Buffalo intended.
  17. The only reason I would've bought a Cardinals World Series pennant would have been to burn it. Just sayin
  18. Yeah, the Twins are great when they're winning WS over the Cards and Braves. Not so much when they see the MFYs. It's been almost 30 years since you've given me some gratification Twinkies...you're overdue.
  19. =seawolf17 post_id=23735 time=1570193204 user_id=91] This kind of scouting is NOT going to get me the manager's job next year. Pizzano finished the season with the Somerset Patriots in the Atlantic League.
  20. =41Forever post_id=23425 time=1569949073 user_id=69] Tracky was saying JD Davis might be one of their better trading chips, especially to an AL team. He really doesn't have a position here unless Conforto is moved — which he also thought was a possibility.
  21. =LWFS post_id=23430 time=1569949707 user_id=84] It would START with something like Syndergaard and Dominic Smith, and possibly include Nimmo and/or a couple of minor leaguers (Ronny Mauricio?). (Another reason to hate the Diaz/Cano trade: Kelenic-- especially after this year-- and Syndergaard and mid-level pitching prospect almost certainly gets this done.)
  22. July 31, 2015. Citi was electric. Most people learned the Mets had acquired Cespedes on their trip to the stadium. Somewhat forgotten about that night: Harvey was awesome, starting the night with 5 1/3 perfect innings, eventually going 7 2/3 giving up just one earned run with 9 Ks and 0 BB. Lots of ovations for Wilmer; Hansel Robles (!) had a big inning in relief, including striking out Harper, which led to an argument and Harper's ejection. And then, of course, the Flores walk-off, which was the jump start of the big run culminating in the pennant.
  23. =Centerfield post_id=22300 time=1568899884 user_id=65] Wait, am I reading that right? Did we have the lowest team record for HR's among all major league teams? Never realized we were that bad.
  24. =seawolf17 post_id=22220 time=1568825565 user_id=91] Reading about Dellin Betances' injury yesterday that will end his season. He's 32, a four-time all-star, Can Play In New York™, heading into free agency for the first time. Guarantee the Mets offer him a Familia contract this off-season and then watch him implode, while they DFA someone like Walker Lockett and watch him become a key 8th-inning guy for the Cardinals or whoever.
  25. Just wear the caps on the 11th and dare MLB to fine them. Let MLB decide if they want to take the PR hit for doing so.
