  1. I'll say it again Hirschbeck is killing me. The 2-1 t Russell was right down the pipe
  2. Chisenhall is like bad in right field
  3. Tomlin pitched well in a tough atmosphere. Miller on bottom 5 and he gets the final out.
  4. Hirschbeck is lost behind the plate
  5. Yeah, it's unclear if iHeart will be simulcasting. They can't with live Mets games, but I have no idea what the MLB/satellite radio agreement for archived games is.
  6. WOR to rebroadcast the radio call of Game 7 on Thursday evening. http://710wor.iheart.com/onair/new-york-mets-52984/710-wor-will-rebroadcast-1986-world-15238111/?partnerId=as_nym_20161026_67237096&adbid=10157701614330078&adbpl=fb&adbpr=94421890077
  7. Didn't turn out to affect the outcome, but let's discuss the short fly ball Davis caught with the bases loaded in the 7th. 3-0 game and we are nearing Foxwoods Resorts turning point of the game territory. Nobody out, Zobrist on third. Davis grabs it and immediately goes home to prevent Zobrist from tagging. However, Schwarber was way off second and Davis had about as easy a DP for an outfielder. Maybe he didn't see him or maybe he was just so focused on preventing the run from scoring that he automatically came up throwing home. What's the right play there? You have to take the second out by doubling off Schwarber I think, no matter what Zobrist ends up doing. Worst case there Cleveland should be up 3-1 with 2 outs and a runner on first.
  8. Cubs in 5. I want it to go the other way, but I think the Indians might be in trouble if they're not playing with a lead in the series. A healthy Salazar might change my mind, but that might be just wishful thinking. If the Cubs are going to win, it's gotta be in Wrigley, so I say five games.
  9. Just an observation on the demeanor of the dugouts. If you're a Blue Jays fan watching at home and TBS does those cuts to the two dugouts, how comfortable are you when you see your manager with his head against the back of the dugout looking like a little league dad just wondering what's for dinner when he gets home, then they switch to the other dugout and you see Tito as cool and collected as can be, knowing whatever button he pushes will be the right one?
  10. Sorry to throw cold water on our fantasies, but with a depleted rotation and a hurt Cliffy, the Mets were by no means a lock to beat the Tigers.
  11. I grew tired of the Cubs story lines so early in this postseason, and enjoyed Roberts' handling of Jensen/Kershaw so much that I am firmly on Team Mary Hart in this round. *My old man was also a big Dodgers fan, so they have that going for them too. **As always though, fluck Utey.
  12. Dodgers up 4-3 bottom 6. Myrna Turner with a HR off Scherzer. Keyshawn out after scuffling through 5. Joe Blanton (!) in relief

  14. Liriano just took a line drive off the back of his head off the bat of Carlos Gomez (speaking of not paying attention, had no idea he was with Texas). Jays playing long ball, leading 5-2 in the 8th, Rangers trying to rally tying run at plate.
  15. That was '08. They lost four in a row in Philly in September, right about when we started our fall off the cliff. They of course recovered in time to beat us out for the WC.
  16. He'll definitely opt out, because at the very least I think he can get more in FA than what he's guaranteed the next two years. But I think he likes it here, and I think a deal gets done.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I wonder what ever happened to all of the people who thought the Mets had "dumped R.A. Dickey" for a bunch of nobodies. I don't think there were many. Most people thought the Mets fleeced Toronto from day 1.

He could have gone a second inning from Reed, I suppose, but then if Reed coughs it up in the ninth it's Britton II -- except there's no save situation to save Familia for, so you might as well use your big guns while you can. Familia just wasn't himself out there; he was missing all over the place. I think it was Fman who said it a few pages back -- it was Aiming Familia, not Throwing Familia. Regardless, he was the right guy to have out there in that spot. I just think at the time Reed came in you make the double switch, so you have the option to go another inning with Reed if you want to. By then, Terry has to know that Bumgarner is good to go 9 or 10 innings and he has to extend the game as long as possible. He tried to play it by the regular season book (Reed 8th, Jeurys 9th) but he needed to be willing and able to let both go multiple innings. Might not have worked out since Jeurys was not sharp, but the double switch has to be the move there.

  20. Lot of pressure on the Dodgers too. They keep getting to the postseason and falling short.
  21. True fact until pregame intros I don't think I'd ever heard of Connor Gillaspie

  24. Don't think that was hit hard enough to get through the infield but would have liked to have tested that theory
  25. Reed barks at the ump walking off the mound.
