  1. Rusty Claus would fit the suit well.
  2. Lots of Luis Alvarados on a google image search, but I think we're looking for this guy. Is that the old Yankee Stadium he's standing in? Craig Anderson is on deck.
  3. The only Brown U. athlete drafted #1 in any sport...taking grounders at Shea. Who's in the outfield?
  4. I have that Agee card, and I think it is one of those Topps specials, in which they try to fake us into believing he's in an Astro uniform when he's really not. The red on the hats and socks were colored in. Yes, folks, I believe that came from his time as a Met. That could be Buddy at short, right? It makes sense, too, b/c that card is from the 1973 set, and Agee played all of 1972 as a Met I believe.
  5. Hamilton came back briefly to my local team, the Hudson Valley Renegades, this past summer. Impossible to say where he is in his life now, but he was extremely humbled and grateful to be given another chance. I wish him luck in his recovery and hope he makes something out of his career.

    Glavine

Nothing could beat the weekly Questec bonfire...

    Glavine

braves.scout.com has "breaking news" on Glavine. But I'm not a member and can't access the story. Anyone with access care to enlighten?
  8. I liked Chad. Thought he filled a nice role in the pen, and I'm disappointed if he's gone. The O's are really trying to bolster their bullpen, wtih Baez and now Bradford.
  9. It also applies to Dykstra and McDowell. Neither of them played five full seasons as a Met. Same goes for Aguilera.
  10. The guy said Kevin Baez! Good heavens Mr. Baez, you're dutiful! (apologies to Dickshot)
  11. That's not a bad deal for the Astros (the Williams one). 12.5 over 2 is pretty low for a guy who could, stress could, be a solid guy in the rotation.
  12. If selling the naming rights to subway stations in any way can stem a fare hike, then I think most straphangers would not mind.
  13. ]There is nothing worse than being invited to a stupid wedding How do you feel about non-stupid weddings on World Series Saturdays?
  14. There was something nice about Game 6s being on a Saturday night...there have been some great Game 6s since they went to this format in 1985, and you could always stay up without the worry of work the next day. But I kind of like the change. There were always opportunities to miss Game one due to a Saturday commitment. Those aren't as likely on a Tuesday.
  15. Second-hand rumor/speculation I heard yesterday. Don't know if there's anything to it, but it's intriguing enough to throw it out there. What if Boras and the Red Sox have sort of a back room deal going. Boras tells the Sox that if they sign his guy (Drew) to Boras's contract terms, then he won't play hard ball on the Matsuzaka negotiations. It would sort of explain Drew's willingness to walk away from $33 mill. guaranteed.
  16. Rey Ordonez--Rey Ordonez!--signs a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners.
  17. ]None of them could find the No. 7 train without John Rocker as a guide, Bloomberg has long taken the subway to City Hall, rather famously. Come on, Wally. On another note, I thought there were going to be more luxury boxes. I like that there are 54...doesn't feel like the stadium will be overwhelmed by them.
  18. Edited out my stupidity.
  19. Can't imagine the Fenway faithful liking Drew's laid back attitude.
  20. Kaz Matsui re-ups with the Rockies for one year. Admire his persistence in staying in the US. I thought for sure he'd go back to Japan.
  21. Cardinals and MLB announce that they will open the season at home with the Mets on Sunday night on ESPN. Then Monday will be a day off, with games on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  22. Who are the 2 people flanking Fred? And who is the redhead next to Willie?
  23. I think Mayor Mike is breaking some kind of union rule by not wearing a helmet.
  24. So much for the notion that he and LaRussa couldn't stand each other. Maybe it's telling that there's no quote from Tony in that article.
  25. ]Edgy DC wrote: To be honest, that three-year Yankee tenure of Sheffield's was less rocky than I expected. On edit: Look for J.D. Drew to take his place. I don't know about that, for some reason I get the feeling the Yankees will put their trust in a homegrown talent, Melky Cabrera. Just a hunch, really. He seemed pretty capable last season and would allow more money to be used in areas of greater concern. They don't really need to replace him. They got Abreu to replace him.
