I just renewed mine. Glad I saw that here. They didn't send me anything. Well, did you get any of _MY_ emails reminding you? ;-) No, but it should have gotten through to that address. I may have to check my spam filter.
  2. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: He'd do himself a big favor by tripling his HR output this year. Yes. He looks (based on numbers) like a line drive hitter. He hits plenty of doubles though (30 in 360 ABs). His upside is a righthanded Daniel Murphy (at least the solid if unspectacular version of Murphy that played for the Mets) with more range. Which, for somebody I didn't know about until this morning, I'd happily take.
  3. He'd been flying under the radar until he posted a solid .335/.374/.485 at Bingo last year. He plays second, short, and third. I'm assuming he's beginning the year at Vegas. Given the Mets infield depth he might have to force his way to a call-up before September, but if he proves last season wasn't a fluke while continuing to flash the leather like he did yesterday, don't assume it couldn't happen.

  5. Awful. Just awful.

  7. That I get to Citi for the first time since becoming a dad.
  8. Dwight Gooden?
  9. I'd still like to see the Mets get a similar righthanded outfielder on a minor-league deal. I guess he felt his path back to the show has fewer obstacles in San Francisco.
  10. I'd talk to anybody about anybody, but I'd be surprised if somebody offered us something for Cabrera that would make this year's team better.
  11. Blackmon's OPS+ last year was 130, which would mean an OPS in the mid 800s playing here (by comparison, Granderson has a 126 OPS+ in 2015). That's obviously good, but it's fair to ask if he can repeat it. Defensively, his range is fine but his arm is weak. Overall it's not clear that he represents a defensive upgrade over Granderson (who really wasn't bad in center this past season -- the Fielding Bible has him at +1). And the degree of offensive upgrade is debatable. I don't think he's a big enough improvement over what we've got to justify the likely asking price.
  12. Or we could just re-sign Eric Young.
  13. I have Brach in the Ottoneu league, and I have to say he was an asset. If I can get a Met on my team without having to outbid a league full of Met fans to get him, I'm all for it.
  14. The Astros are looking to shop Evan Gattis and have two outfield openings. Gattis definitely has a higher floor than d'Arnaud and is better defensively behind the plate than most people realize. (He plays the outfield as well as I do, however.)
  15. I just realized that I need to be more active when it's time to discuss soothsaying for seventeen.

Bullpen help could be obtained just as easily via free agency. I'm not necessarily for replacing d'Arnaud, but complementing him with a guy that at least has a higher floor seems like a sensible precaution. Bruce or Granderson should be worth more than that though, especially if you're dangling them both and seeing who gets you the best return.
  17. I want to, but I haven't gotten the chance.
  18. The better comparison would be with Joe McEwing, who turned two good months into a much longer stay than his overall numbers warranted.
  19. So we have Duda, Walker, Cabrera, Wright, Reyes, and Flores, with Cecchini and Rivera as call-ups. That looks pretty set to me.
  20. I don't know if there is still an ex-Mets thread, but RA Dickey just signed a one-year deal with the Braves.
  21. He re-upped with us this past season, at a time when it looked like he was just keeping a seat warm for Wheeler. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we have trouble finding innings for him this time around. Lugo and Gsellman might limit what I'd be willing to pay to bring him back, but they shouldn't be deal-breakers from either side's perspective.
  22. Options for Reyes and Bruce have been picked up. The option for Niese has been declined.
  23. 1B: It's still Duda's to lose, but he's gotta be healthy. (3) 2B: Lots of so-so options. I'd like to see a lefty to pair up with Flores, and who can also move around the infield in the (likely) event of an injury. Cecchini could then be the first call-up. Kelly Johnson could probably be brought back for a song, but I'd ask about players like Derek Dietrich of the Marlins or Brock Holt of the Red Sox. Flores reminds me of Ty Wigginton. Not a good enough glove to be an everyday middle infielder, and not a consistent enough bat against righties to man a corner full-time. But he can have a role on a good team. Reyes could find a role here too. (5) SS: Cabrera is safe to pencil in there. (1) 3B: It's Wright's for as many games as he's healthy, which is... (6) LF: Plan A is Cespedes (although I agree that RF is the ideal spot for him). I think plans B, C, and D are Cespedes as well. (4 for now, but could go up to 1 or down to 8 quickly depending on how things pan out.) CF: Better than it looks at face value if Lagares is good to go. Lagares was the 2014 defensive Lagares when he played, which makes him an asset even if he's not hitting all that well. There's reason for optimism with Lagares; walks and isolated power were up while strikeouts were down. He may have simply been unlucky in his limited ABs. I'm bullish on him if he's healthy. Granderson didn't embarrass himself in center, either. He also suffered from a terrible (.254) BABIP. I realize that the shift works against him, but it's not like people just started using it against him last year. I'm bullish on him as well. (2) RF: Take what you can get for Bruce. I have more confidence in Conforto or Nimmo stepping up. That doesn't mean it can't be improved on. (8) C: I'm not giving up on d'Arnaud just yet, but some insurance would be prudent. (7)
  24. Things would have worked out for him if he had found his way to New York.
  25. Well there's shortstop, and...
