  1. =Centerfield post_id=5142 time=1553632908 user_id=65] I don't know. But you ask, don't you? What if he would do a 3 year deal at $15 per.
  2. Thor's probably wondering why he didn't sign an extension today too. Although it's still early...
  3. High fives all around!
  4. I could understand opting for Nido if you don't anticipate d'Arnaud being out for long, on the grounds that calling up Mesoraco briefly wouldn't justify the risk of losing somebody to a waiver claim. But I'm not sure I feel too much sympathy for Mesoraco if the contract he signed did not give him the option of insisting on a release if he didn't open the season with the club.

  6. Will enjoy the hour drive up I-81 from Binghamton to Syracuse when it happens, but that will be his 2019 highlight.
  7. He'll be ready for Spring Training 2020 and still has a pretty bright future, but he's got this year off.
  8. He'll give us a few great plays and then get hurt.
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: Too much weed, or too many bad puns? Yes, although the latter is probably more likely than the former at this point. I suppose there is a chance that Herrera finds his mojo in 2019 as abruptly as he lost it in 2016. And it's not like he's ever performed poorly at AAA, really. It's just that after posting an .893 OPS in AAA at 21, nobody thought he'd go backwards. Brandon Phillips was 25 when the lightbulb clicked on, so who knows?
  10. All this addressing of non-existient problems, and taking strategy away from the game. Like I said before, make sure player salaries go up proportionally with revenue, or we will have to wait more than a year between pitches. Having said that, the fact that the two sides are at least talking is encouraging.
  11. I'd guess that somebody sees something they like for him to still be in camp. He's definitely moving up the depth chart, and might not be more than one or two injuries or implosions away from substantial work in Queens.
  12. I bet he gets the nod ahead of Hecheverria. His K/BB ratio was actually pretty encouraging, and the .219 BABIP is not likely to be duplicated. He'll be decent if given a chance. But if he spends a lot of time playing third base again, it will mean things have gone wrong.
  13. He pitched nearly 50 IP over the first half of the season, and that took its toll. An even-paced 70 IP would give him a solid 3.15 ERA an 1.10 WHIP with 80 Ks.
  14. May get a call-up in September. May also get traded if Amed Rosario takes a big jump forward. But he will be the big draw in Syracuse until at least July.
  15. Frazier, assuming he's mostly healthy, will be better but not overwhelmingly so. I could see .240/.310/.440 with 10 homers in 200 ABs before being moved in July -- somebody else will need a glove-first third baseman more than we will. The salt and pepper thing would have had more staying power if the team did.
  16. I expect something comparable to what he's been doing when healthy, except for less saves.
  17. Bobby Wahl suffered a torn ACL while pitching — yes that's ACL, not UCL — and is probably missing the whole season.
  18. Regarding Cargo's defense: once he had range, and it was a gas.
  19. The Yankees are welcome to have Machado's down years. The Padres may have a tough time affording Machado and the escalating arbitrated contracts their top prospects will likely eventually get, but it's five years before that is even a concern. It's certainly true that if revenues keep going up, $25M won't look even a little bit prohibitive in a decade for a high-end player. Even if Harper plays more like the last three seasons than like 2015, it's not going to be an albatross. An injury that compromises his play long-term would render all bets off, though.
  20. He's probably done at this point (meaning Carlos Gomez, not any cargo pants-wearing CPFers). But it's no risk, and he could surprise us.
  21. I'm worried that he needs to pitch four seasons like last year just to make that trade break-even for us.
  22. TJ can't seem to buy a break, although it's entirely possible he started his rehab assignment too early last summer.
  23. =G-Fafif post_id=3536 time=1551331088 user_id=55] Will clinch Met of the Decade honors. Pretty much already has.
  24. =nymr83 post_id=3504 time=1551295019 user_id=54] =dgwphotography post_id=3503 time=1551291595 user_id=78] 9-3, 2.15 ERA, Tommy John Surgery in July.
  25. Corey Oswalt. The Mets are one injury (or Jason Vargas 2019 pitching like Jason Vargas 2018) away from opening an enormous window of opportunity.
