  1. The umps giveth and the umps taketh away. Blessed be the names of the umps.
  2. Eischen's mouthpiece makes him look like Jaws from the James Bond movies.
  3. Wright is going to hit .320 this year.
  4. Delgado narrowly misses his first Met HR, sending it way out but foul.
  5. Heilman finishes the inning a lot better than he started it.
  6. But that double play sure helped.
  7. Heilman's not looking so good today. I think #776 will be Sanchez, but hopefully not too quickly.
  8. Wright sent an 0-2 pitch over the rightfield fence to give the Mets a 3-1 lead. Nady bloops one in front of Soriano, who may or may not have noticed the ball was coming his way. He's 3 for 3 now. Hernandez gets an infield hit -- or it should have been but Livan is charged with an error instad. Jose Valentin makes his first pinch hit attempt as a Met, Heilman looks ready.
  9. David Wright makes his first case for batting higher in the lineup...
  10. Delgado hits an even weaker popout than Beltran, and a big opportunity is wasted. Sigh.
  11. Beltran pops out and really hears it from the crowd.
  12. Nice looking double from our new catcher.
  13. Nats execute rundown like Little Leaguers and Glavine avoids double play. Not sure we want Glavine doing all this running before pitching his last inning.
  14. That will look like a solid line drive in the boxscores...
  15. Glavine is staying in.
  16. And Soriano goes down with the bat on his shoulders.
  17. HUGE pitch from Glavine to KO Johnson after going 3-0.
  18. Nady hits a solid double to left; Floyd is rounding third before Soriano gets anywhere near the ball. I could really learn to like Soriano playing for a division rival. Mets 2, Nats 1.
  19. Beltran grounds out as the sound comes back.
  20. LoDuca hits a two-out flailer, Soriano makes no effort and it falls in. Mets 1, Nats 0. The SNY people are providing commentary because the production truck is still down. But at least we have a picture now. What a spectacular embarrassment.
  21. 88.

  23. There was a reason I kept badgering you with offers for catchers...
  24. Elster88 wrote: So much for the theory that having old guys in spring training (Oliver and Lima) keeps youngsters from making the team (Diaz). Bannister making the rotation kills that theory, at least for now. Still, I think the Mets would be better served with Bell and Ring instead of Julio and Feliciano.
  25. Right now I don't need more pitching. I think I can fill my two util spots adequately. I could still afford to upgrade at second or third but the guys I would have traded Rivera for do not appear to be available. As for my remaining catchers, I like having insurance but I'll entertain good offers. I think I'm done making proposals for the time being. PS abogdan traded Scott Podsednik and Ryan Zimmerman to Vic Sage for Luis Gonzalez (of the Rockies) and Brett Myers. Both sides fill needs.
