  1. A wrist fracture. If we see him again this year, it will deep in the playoffs. So let's hope we see him this year. It's a shame, given that he had mostly righted the ship since the ASB. The silver lining is that I have full confidence in Iglesias. And I guess we see Luisangel Acuña?
  2. https://x.com/SteveGelbs/status/1831065718177296876 Big words Going by Fangraphs WAR, here are the best years by some Mets position players (at least the ones that I thought of looking up): Wright 2007 8.4 Olerud 1998 8.1 Beltran 2006 7.8 Gilkey 1996 7.6 Lindor 2024 7.3 (so far) Johnson 1989 7.0 Strawberry 1990 6.5 Reyes 2008 5.9 Piazza 2000 5.8 Hernandez 1986 5.8
  3. I don't even know what to say. Every team goes though down stretches, but this is different. And the White Sox aren't an expansion team, or incapable of buying their way at least up to mediocrity. This is mindblowing.
  4. Their lineup is a lot less formidable with Marte, Walker, and Joc Pederson (.939 OPS but a platoon DH) not in it. We need Manaea to take advantage. The light switch really clicked on for Jake McCarthy this year. The fact that he's in there against a lefty says a lot. They are using deadline pickup AJ Puk a lot (0.69 ERA in 13 IP). Dylan Floro had a pair of rough outings and has been used less often.
  5. Jason Heyward got DFAd by the Dodgers. With the exception of his BABIP, his numbers aren't radically different from last year. I think we'd have to go down to seven relievers, but for a waiver claim he might be a flyer worth taking.
  6. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=165756 time=1723212860 user_id=68] It's the stadium. Thr stadium that the Mets AAA team plays in is the most hitter friendly stadium in the IL.
  7. On the more optimistic side, Dedniel Nunez had similar struggles going from AA to AAA last year, Butto's numbers over the last two seasons are better at the major-league level than at AAA, and Scott held his own here despite a frightening home run rate at AAA. So maybe you just have to factor in that Syracuse favors hitters, and a pitcher doesn't have to be spectacular there to be fine here.
  8. Syracuse is not a forgiving place for pitchers right now. I'm not sure why, but Vasil, Tidwell, and Hamel have all faceplanted on making the jump. It would be very upsetting if Sproat follows suit. It's reached the point where I'm not sure I'd take the hitting numbers at face value either, but I have no good reason why Binghamton and Syracuse would be that different.
  9. And yes, it's fair to ask which one of these guys will keep us from sweating out the eighth inning.
  10. Everybody asks about everybody this time of year. The Dodgers gave up their #8 and #22 (per mlb.com) for Flaherty. The Nats got somebody for Floro who Fangraphs listed as an "other prospect of note" (i.e., outside the top 50) because he's a bit old and profiles maybe as a first baseman, but he was tearing up the PCL.
  11. I'm curious to see what the Dodgers paid for Flaherty and the Diamondbacks paid for Dylan Floro.
  12. =Cowtipper post_id=164737 time=1722378824 user_id=166] Brazoban isn't bad. Actually, none of the names are eye-popping, but they acquired enough that they can throw them all at the wall and inevitably one or two will stick.
  13. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=164731 time=1722376994 user_id=119] Jack Flaherty to the Dodgers Garrett Crochet staying put. Surprised at the White Sox for this. Did Luis Robert go anywhere?
  14. Flaherty is going to the Dodgers.
  15. =MFS62 post_id=164726 time=1722376378 user_id=60] =ashie62 post_id=164725 time=1722375946 user_id=90] Mets acquire RP Huascar Brazoban from the Marlins He should make a difference
  16. Underwhelmed so far. Flaherty is still out there though, along with a couple of relievers who might actually make a difference.
  17. Stuart ended last season with an injury, got off to a very rough start in Binghamton this year, but had settled in lately. His last start for the organization on Wednesday was one of his better ones, allowing one run over six innings. I was thinking he might be in Syracuse soon, but alas, business is business.
  18. Stuart had recovered from a rough start to the year in Binghamton and was pitching well lately (two earned runs or less in his last six starts). He was probably ready for a promotion to Syracuse. We're in an odd spot with pitchers right now. On one hand, their fragility has to cut into their value. On the other hand, Stuart will be an optionable arm for three seasons and we always have less pitching depth than we think.
  19. He'll have to win fans over after being a frequent thorn in our side, but he's a massive upgrade over Gamel and Stewart. I hope we're talking to the Nats about Dylan Floro as well.
  20. The Phillies lost too, let's not forget.
  21. I'm not sure if Orze can take any solace in this, but 54 is better than I could do.
  22. I was encouraged that Senga was able to walk off. But I guess we'll see.
  23. Before dealing Ryne Stanek to us, the Mariners picked up Yimi Garcia from the Blue Jays. Garcia is an elite set-up guy with a 2.60 ERA and a 0.80 WHIP. Jonatan Clase was the primary return. Clase was the #10 prospect, and has fourth OF/platoon DH upside unless he can cut down the strikeouts. I may have tried to beat this one.
  24. Basically the Mariners got a good reliever in Yimi Garcia earlier in the day, then sent us the guy he replaced. Meh, but low-risk.
  25. It's the pen, first and foremost. I think you stick with rentals, because I am not comfortable at all with what the Marlins got for Puk and the Nats got for Hunter Harvey. An outfielder would depend on the price.
