  1. Cory Ragsdale What about supplemental first round picks? Later
  2. I checked. My wife lived 1.2 miles away. Later
  3. My wife lived on Story avenue (the next block over according to the map inset) and went to James Monroe High School when Kranepool was there. She was a year ahead of him, and she's told me she wasn't in any of his classes. She was an MFY fan(still is), so I doubt she cared where he lived. But she probably knows where it is. Later
  4. Let's see how long Holmes can go. 77 pitches through 5 innings so far. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Metro Atlanta is known for its traffic issues, A true understatement. I was there almost ten years apart and the same construction traffic cones on the highway passing the Ted hadn't moved. An inch. Later
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Braves: ... hate them fleeing a perfectly good and perfectly young ballpark for the suburbs of Cobb County. Right on! I haven't been to the new place, but attended several games at the Ted. I enjoyed the stadium and the view of downtown Atlanta. And the parking was fine and the food was good (I got carded to buy a beer, though). There was a little backup when leaving the lots, but nothing to compare with leaving Citi or Shea. I can't figure out why they wanted to move. Later
  7. =Cowtipper post_id=189084 time=1744128991 user_id=166] Man, that band could really bring the house down.
  8. I would have thought that Winker would be the backup first baseman. But he has never played there in the majors. So, I don't know. Maybe move Baty to first? As for the third baseman in that scenario, I'm not sure either. Later
  9. =roger_that post_id=189077 time=1744124763 user_id=128] I am deciding that this Forum is composed of rules-defiers, sufferers of Oppositional Defiance Disorder, contrarians, and men who don't take out the trash when their spouse wants them to.
  10. =kcmets post_id=189061 time=1744115422 user_id=53] 15-25 mph winds and 40 mph gusts.
  11. I take the Conan approach to every team the Mets play: "Defeat your enemies Drive them before you Hear the lamentations of their women" Except for those teams that left New York for the West Coast. I would treat them more harshly than that. Later
  12. You're right. It is bmfc1 who started the thread who is the culprit. You guys look alike. Later
  13. Then you might as well learn to spell his name correctly. It is Mangum. Later
  14. Matt Allan made his first appearance in a pro game in six years, a story that made national headlines. He was excellent, striking out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and throwing 28 of 44 pitches for strikes. Allan pitched in the minors in 2019 after the Mets selected him in the third round but suffered major setbacks after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. He then underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and continued to suffer setback after setback until now. RHP Matt Allan, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K Welcome to the family, kid. Stay well (knocking wood, Kanehara) Later
  15. Aren't those the kind of conditions in which Paul Wilson hurt his arm? That scares me when we have a Faberge egg like Senga pitching. Later
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm also glad that Vlad won't be a Yankee or a Dodger. This. Later
  17. IIRC he was one of the first managers to maintain statistics on his own PC. But how we interpret, then use, numbers has evolved over the years. Later
  18. Down 2-0 Time to put on the rally caps. Later
  19. With each passing year I become more convinced this was a professional writer. It has a Jimmy Breslin feel to it, doesn't it? But then he uses the word "fellows" instead of "guys" which would more in keeping with the rest of the style. So that bumps it up to Albee-esque. Later
  20. Always welcome. Thanks, Later
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: The Canster. Riding this little guy to the All-Star Game. This is the second post that I've noticed that you've called him little. Baseball reference lists his height as 6'2". How is that little, even for a right handed starter? Later
  22. If they were going to give us a territorial battle, I'd have preferred Sharks VS Jets, with real knives. Later
  23. Lindor and Soto have been quoted recently as saying they would like getting him and it would be a great move. I'm not sure if this is bordering on tampering (probably not since he isn't a free agent), but if they keep it up some people at the commissioner's office will start monitoring this closely. But that's not going to stop the reporters from asking. Later
