  1. Was the field damp from earlier rain? If the field was dry, maybe that ball would have kicked up some infield dust. (sigh) Later
  2. =kcmets post_id=190799 time=1745630917 user_id=53] Soto wears a pretty small glove for an outfielder.
  3. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Don't forget this is a stoopit 6:45 start Are they afraid of the dark? Later
  4. Matt had a brief start(27P). 2.0IP 1H 1R 1ER 1BB 1K 1K his ERA is now 2.70 (no decision) Later
  5. Brandon hit a big bump in the road: 2.1IP 6H 6R 6ER 2BB 1K 1HR and his ERA grew to 5.79 Later
  6. =roger_that post_id=190700 time=1745526993 user_id=128] The single most enjoyable managerial decision, for me, was whether to take your starter out of the game if he was pitching well but you needed a run.
  7. The most traumatic to me was moving my team from Brooklyn. But strictly speaking of an innovation, the DH. Later
  8. No matter what the math says, whatever mojo this thread has conjured up, it seems to be working. (like wearing that lucky cap when the team is winning) Keep it going. Later
  9. =roger_that post_id=190601 time=1745442338 user_id=128] Closer by committee for a while? Butto? Kranick? Stanek? Minter?
  10. Somebody will have to step up. Later
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: 4/22 (almost 23) Posted like that in a prior week, too. The event I posted about happened on Sunday (4/20) , so I posted it in that week's thread, even though my post was in the new week. You wouldn't put a book about World War II in the Korean War section of a library if the book was written in 1952. Later
  12. The old pitcher in me would want to strike every batter out, for fear they would hit the ball near, but not directly at, that defense. On any balls hit toward left center I would run to back up third. Later
  13. =roger_that post_id=190445 time=1745364753 user_id=128] We've dirtied Sanchez up!
  14. Alvarez has four passed balls in limited action behind the plate. I'd let him get some more rust out. I'm not sure if he's ready defensively to catch when brought up. Later
  15. That would be coming back almost full cycle to the old days when games were "recreated". A reporter at the game would send a teletype to a radio studio and an announcer would read the ticker, adding some color, with crowd sound effects playing in the background. Les Keiter did this the first year when the Giants moved to San Francisco and Ronald Reagan did it for (IIRC) the Cubs before he became an actor. I guess AI could interpret and vocalize the ticker information, but that's one kind of nostalgia I'm not ready for. Later
  16. Now we know what happens when they're supposed to be hibernating. Later
  17. Nimmo's range has been shrinking faster than a Dollar Store undershirt. It has been a concern for years, and is why they moved him to left field. Gilbert was just promoted to AAA, so the solution may be on the way soon. Later
  18. No mention of the "lost home run" by Judge because of the lack of a good video replay in the minor league ballpark the Rays call home? Then I'll happily mention it. Oh, wait! I just did. Later
  19. We had 'em all the way. (Can I breathe now?) Later
  20. Congrats for making the majors, kid. Too bad it wasn't with the Mets. Later
  21. Megill must think this was the old days, when the teams had Mondays off and a bullpen could rest. He's thrown 50 pitches in a little over 2 innings. How about a couple of one or two pitch outs? Later
  22. Alec Bohm has 59 career home runs and sometimes it feels like that they were all against the Mets. Please, Tylor, no Bohm booms tonight. Later
  23. =Cowtipper post_id=190290 time=1745248065 user_id=166] How'd you guys not get Fritz Polka???
  24. Thank you. What do the asterisks mean on some of the names? Later
  25. Sure, why not? We still may remember some of those names. Later
