  1. Just checked Russ Adams' numbers. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/adamsru01.shtml He was a first round draft pick of the Jays, then injuries hampered his progress. Then I noticed his #1 comparison player - Pumpsie Green. And the memories came flashing back...... Later
  2. Yeah, but then we'd have to get up five minutes earlier to get to work on time. I'll vote for the .0000000001 seconds (or whatever). Later
  3. That got me thinking about other positives about the Earth falling into the sun. Since Yankee fans are already flaming assholes, that would toast the rest of their bodies. Later
  4. A day without a Mets win and a Braves loss is like a day without sunshine. Even in Spring Training. Y'think its too early to start one of those double happiness threads? Later
  5. G-Fafif wrote: Wayne Hagin's an enjoyable enough announcer who happens to broadcast Mets games 150 or so times per season. He does not equal Mets. I think last year I posted that Wayne has "no Mets soul". While I had that feeling all season, what finally crystalized it to me was that he said (I paraphrase, its been a while) "Ex- Tiger Dotel is now pitching". He totally didn't know that Dotel had pitched for the Mets. Later
  6. Its not like I'm scooping up all the top prospects. Just players I thought it would be interesting to follow. (The last two because of their names) Many of them aren't on anyone's top 25 lists. And some that are, I adopted them before they were on any lists. (IIRC, I adopted one or two before they ever played a professional inning) Later
  7. No. But several of my older adoptees have either left the organization or made it to the majors, so I had to kick them out of the house. Don't worry. Brad and Angelina's number is still safe. Later
  8. I just don't want the world to end with the Yankees having won the last World Series of all time. Later
  9. http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20100302/sc_space/chileearthquakemayhaveshorteneddaysonearth I can see it all now. Mets in game 7 of this year's World Series, up by a run in the ninth. And the Earth tumbles out of orbit and crashes into the Sun. Later
  10. Now that you defined the difference (which I had not read before), it is clear. Not the same thing. And your guess that they will be interviewed about the illegal stuff makes sense, too. Later
  11. What set off the investigation was when the Doctor's nurse was stopped entering the US from Canada. Her car was randomly searched, and they found drugs that are still illegal in this country, while legal in Canada. Some of them were "PEDs". That led to an investigation of the doctor and the names of several prominent American athletes were found on his patient lists. There is, as far as I can tell, still no evidence that he prescribed, or gave, anything illegal (in the US) to any of those athletes. Nor is there any evidence that he added anything into the athletes' blood when he re-injected it. Yes, this might be considered blood doping, which is illegal in some sports (someone above mentioned bike racing). But whether it is the exact same thing is still unclear. Later
  12. After watching Olympic ice skating, how could anyone not adopt someone named Lutz? He's an infielder with some pop in his bat. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=lutz--001zac Later
  13. Read some good news/ bad news in the Daily Snooze this weekend. Good news: they put Saucy Arturo Lopez on waivers. Bad news: He cleared waivers and will be coming back to Mets camp. Later
  14. I'm surprised Joe Garagiola, Bob Uecker and/or Bob Prince aren't on the list, and would be interested to see how they were ranked. Later
  15. After all these years, they finally partnered Miller with an analyst who can analyze. Later
  16. I know, Irish. I was being a little sarcastic there. How could he know? Att: But if Flores never returns fully healthy, it will make Omar's exposing him to the draft not be a too terrible mark on Omar's legacy. Also interesting is the way Flores (or the writer) discussed his (mis)treatment by the Nats' medical team. That kind of stuff was big news when we were talking about the Mets last year. Looks like it can happen elsewere, too. Later
  17. Been there, done that, with a guy named Clint Hartung. He was a NY Giants prospect. They couldn't figure out if he would turn out to be a great pitcher or a great hitter. He was neither. Although, there was this guy named Babe Ruth ... Later
