    You're cut

All (or most) of those guys look like the kinds of players who are being sent down early so they can get lots of work in the minor league camp. These aren't the types of veterans with no chance of making the club who are still in PSL to flesh out rosters for ST games. Let's not forget, Lujan was leading the team in wins so far this spring. Yogi hurt

On the way to the hospital, the ambulance came to a fork in the road, and took it. Later
  5. I had a suspicion that Koosman/ Lockwood would be on the list. But I never expected to see their total tied with Zachry/ Lockwood. Good stuff. Thanks. Later

  9. Haven't noticed in the box scores, will this be Dida's first game in right field? He could be auditioning for a spot on the 25 man roster. Later

  12. Re "good soreness". Sometimes, after surgery, the person can feel the adhesions breaking. That is good. It frees up the area to act normally. I'm not sure if this should have occurred before now, but if that is what he feels, its ok. It it is anything else, it means that he still feels the rubbing of bone-on-bone, and that pain will be with him forever. That's not ok. Later

For Jewish Major Leaguers, I used to use this as the place of record. http://jewishmajorleaguers.org/ Haven't really read it much for a while. They were very good at explaining things such as Paul Blair's conversion, Rod Carew marrying a Jewish woman, raising his kids Jewish, but never converting, and the religion a player practices when raised by one Jewish parent. 17. Piazza: teasing the press corps. Former Mets slugger Mike Piazza says he's 'probably' interested in buying a piece of a baseball team BY Peter Botte DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Saturday, March 5th 2011, 10:54 AM Theodorakis/News PORT ST. LUCIE - Mike Piazza admits he has thought about buying into a baseball team one day. But the former Mets great said he's currently "not involved in anything specific," including being part of an investment group to help bail out the cash-strapped Wilpons. "Would I be interested in possibly getting involved in a group to buy a team someday? Probably," said Piazza, who was at Mets camp as hitting coach with Team Italy. "I've been thinking about it ... But as far as anything in the forefront, nothing. Down the line, we'll see." Asked if he's been approached by anyone to be part of a group to purchase a stake in the Mets, Piazza smiled and said sheepishly, "I can't confirm or deny that." "Let's just say that I've talked to some people who have interest in getting into the game," he added. "It doesn't cost anything to talk, at least not yet. "But as far as anything right now, any talks, or putting any groups together, no, I'm not involved in anything specific." We hope he doesn't have to change positions on that. Later
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Madden's not a reporter being paid to cover the Mets. He's a columnist paid to give out snarky nicknames and make pre-made connections based on ridiculously small sample sizes. Thanks for clearing that up. Then he certaily earned his money. He did both in one sentence. Later
  19. From Madden's article in Friday's Daily News. Thanks to a running, leaping catch with a runner on second by the Mets' version of a strange-named scrubeenie, right fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Frankie Fisticuffs was also able to emerge unscored on in his one inning of work. You'd think a reporter getting paid to cover the Mets wouldn't give one of their players a snarky nickname and would know enough about the organization to not call one of their best prospects a scrubeenie. The level of competition he faced really wasn't important. The biggest enemy he had to face was himself. And he won. He didn't walk a single batter. I'm happy for him. Later

    2011 Roster

Vic Sage wrote: big deal... i've been posting basically that same roster for months in this thread. Everybody has projected that same roster, basically. The only difference between his projections and mine is that he has Misch being kept in the bullpen over Acosta. Vic, another difference is that he gets paid for making his predictions. And yours are probably just as good or better. Later

    Izzy

I heard Izzy interviewed last week on WFAN. He said he was throwing some pitches in the "low 90s". In his first game appearence, he was clocked in the high 80s by the stadium radar gun. That reminded me of an interview with Tom Seaver late in his career. The reporter asked him if he still threw hard. Tom said, "I'm throwing as hard as ever, but the ball takes longer to get there".
