    H-Day

I was going to pick one of the has no surgery choices, but I think his agent is Scott Boras. If so, Scottie is whispering in his ear that it is better to miss a low(er) payroll year at the beginning of a career to ensure big paydays later. So I picked has it, returns to form. Later

I asked him if that was because they play in the Rogers Centre and his last name is Rogers. He said it wasn't. He said, "Tarana IS the Centre of the Universe." (eh?) Later

Plus, other stories this season have said they might be willing to unload shortstop Troy Tulowitski (sp?). Sounds like a deal could be possible. And he joins Hall of Famer Stan Musial as the only players in major league history with at least 2,500 hits, 550 doubles, 350 home runs and a .310 or higher career batting average. When you're the ONLY person, along with Stan the Man, to accomplish a career thingie like that, then you certainly deserve HOF consideration Later

Even after being frustrated that NJ Transit closed escalators to 'conserve power' instead of installing motion detectors like I saw in Munich) That gave me a flashback. I remember falling ass over teakettle down an escalator in Munich Airport because I thought it was broken and wasn't ready for it to start moving. Later

    Who's Next

Not only would I NOT bring TC back, but I'd find that book he carries around (that says you should remove relievers even after they've gotten a batter out) and burn it. (I think it was written by Tony LaRussa) Rather burn that book than have the next manager read it and burn the bullpen. I think Ron Gardenhire should continue his Metliness here. Later
  11. This team scores about as often as a eunuch. Later
  12. Hired Sandy Alderson to re-build the organization from the minors on up. Later
  13. Allowed the installation of THAT scoreboard at CitiField. Later
  14. I voted no based on his track record of hitting in the minors. Because of his injuries earlier this year, I don't think he has gotten into his real hitting rhythm yet. Later
  15. HahnSolo wrote: There was something nice about being a few hundred miles outside NY and still being able to pick up the Mets in the car that I will miss. Little Solo will be unhappy as well...he often listens to games on a radio after lights-out, and FAN is the easiest station to pick up. (I live 50 miles north of the city, FYI, and reception on 98.7 FM is touch and go). I live about 55 miles North East of New York. I only listen to either of them when commuting in my car. When I'm near home, WFAN-FM is sometimes overpowered by some teen pop station on Cape Cod. (Didn't realize FM signals can "skip", too.) ESPN-FM sometimes fades out. I hope they stay on a clear channel AM station. Later

  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It would be nicer if they were regular season games. It makes sense, I guess, for the Blue Jays to try to expand their fanbase into Quebec. I doubt that this is their first step in that effort, but who knows? Next stop Puerto Rico? Later

  21. After the last two days and Dice-K going today, if you had bet both the Mets and Jets winning, you could have retired. Later
  22. The 51s are done. Wonderful series for Carson. 1st game, blows the save and takes the loss. 2nd game, comes into tie game, gives up run and takes the loss. Doesn't pitch game 3, they win. Today, comes into game down 3-2, gives up run which becomes game winner in 4-3 final. Later
  23. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: First two relievers, no less. Then again, they can afford to be profligate, what with the fifteen (!) they're carrying. But when Terry starts calling them to the mound, one by one, its not going to remind anyone of the March of the Gooden Soldiers. Later
  24. Shane Victorino isn't quite as repulsive when he beats the MFSs. Later
