  2. Welcome, Luis. You paid your dues. Later

  4. Wilmer, MDD and the Dutch Treat sent down. Later

  6. Frayed Knot wrote: Just as well as far as I'm concerned. I try to to expend too much energy 'hating' players elsewhere in MLB - but, even within the subset of Neanderthal relievers, Farnsworth always struck me as one of the bigger meatheads out there. Humorist Will Rogers once said that he never met a man he didn't like. He would have punched Farnsworth in the mouth. Later
  7. I hope they keep Wilmer at short, and, who sez pitchers can't hit? Glad to see they can beat a National League team. Later
  8. If they wanted to pay $12 million, the Mets could have had Phil Jackson playing shortstop. The waiting is getting to me. Later
  9. (Where's that cliche thread? Oh well) And the batting coach praised the batter for "Just hitting the ball up the middle, like we've been telling him to do". Hope he's OK. Later
  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: The Tigers are also looking for SS help and are expected to look at Drew, but I'd offer them Tejada and see if they bite. The Tiggers offered Cabrera for Tejada, but Sandy declined because the Mets already had a third baseman. Later
  11. My adoptees, Montero and Centeno, will be the battery at Las Vegas. Neat. Hope they will repeat that in the majors later this year. Later
  12. This thread is presented under the express written permission of Benjamin Grimm. No money shall be charged for its viewing. Earlier this week, Sweeny Murti was on the WFAN mid day show with his MFY report. He said that the MFYS have a surplus of catchers and are still trying to get a third baseman to back up/ platoon with Kelly Johnson. To do that, they might deal Francisco Cervelli. Evan Roberts said that Cervelli might be a good fit for the Mets, if he (shudder) should have to play in case TDA gets hurt. That said, I predct my kid Zach will be traded to the MFYs for Cervelli at the end of Spring Training. He will look around YS III and it will remind him the minor league bandboxes in which he's succeeded. He'll think ,"This won't be too hard". He will become the full time third baseman by August and will (I hate to say this) lead them to the playoffs, hitting .257-14-36 down the stretch. Later

  14. .301-24-94. May even play some at first base if the Mets want to see Flores at third. (More on this when Ben gets around to Zach Lutz) Later
  15. Better than what we might expect, based on the past few years. Not as good as we might hope. .245- 17- 71. Later
  16. Leads off more than he should. More sizzle (SBs) than steak (OBP for a leadoff hitter). May move to second base if (shudder) the Mets have to move Muffy to first. Still will play 120 Games, put up .245/.305/.370 type numbers. Later
  17. I just hope he doesn't stupid, like try to rush his rehab so he can pitch this year, and hurt his arm again. Peace out, Matt. See 'ya in 2015. Later
  18. Has the stuff to make fans cheer. Has the control to make fans yell, "put him away, already". 12-10, 3.76 ERA, 175 (tough to watch) IP, 7.9 K/9 IP, 4.3/9 IP. Later
  19. I thought he had the "middle inning/long man" spot locked. But then they stretched FArnsworth to 2 innings recently, so Carlos may have to battle him for that spot. I hope Carlos wins. He pitched well last year. But his role is the kind that makes you say you don't want to see him too often. 41 G, 63 IP, 3.16 ERA, 1.32 WHIP. Later
  20. Starts the year in the Vegas bullpen. If he gets called up before September he will have pitch well enough to leapfrog several other pitchers. He'll be good out West, but not that good. September callup - 14 G, 16 IP, 3BB, 14 K, 2.25 ERA. Maybe 2 saves. Maybe. Later
  21. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: They've got a lot of old money on the books (see: Utley, Howard, Papelbon, etc.). If they intend to bench Rollins, and want salary relief, I doubt they're getting prime meat in exchange for it (see: Yankees bench-stocking of recent vintage). From ANYONE. This. If the Phillies are going to bench him for a younger, cheaper, option, they might: 1) Eat a (large) portion of his salary, or, 2) Settle for a lesser package of players. Either way, it is better than Sandy bidding high on the first go-round. Let's see how this plays out. Later
  22. Zvon wrote: Ruben can't even lay down a successful sac bunt anymore. Jeeze. And he played a routine ground ball yesterday like it would explode on contact. I see a .235 hitting utility role, with little or no power, in his future. Probably not with the Mets. Yes, the Mets won both of their World Series with light hitting shortstops who hit under .250. But at least they handled the routine plays competently. Ruben is playing like he can't even do that. Later
  23. 60 games, 4-4, 2.89 ERA, 28 of 34 save opportunities. If he injures his neck again, it will be looking over his shoulder at Familia, who could take the closer role from him going into 2015. Later
  24. Utility in the field, major leaguer with the bat. Until first base is resolved, I'm not sure how many at bats he'll have. .287/ .355/ .400 in 85 games, but no idea in what role. Later
  25. 14 starts, 6-5, 3.84 ERA, 100 IP at most. He'll be on a pitch count limit, so I don't know how many IP he will have in the minors. Later
