  1. (From Predator) "If it bleeds, we can kill it." Thor showed that they bleed. Kill! KILL! KILL! Later
  2. Elster88 wrote: I spoke to Cal. He is eating a LOT of asshole to try to help Ugh! That's disgusting. He talks with his mouth full. Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Which one of you is taking care of parachuting in with a banner tomorrow? We've got this covered, right? When I was in the Army, we used to tell the Airborne guys that there are only two things that drop out of the sky - birdshit and idiots. Pass. We've already listed the things we can do. Later
  4. Lefty Specialist wrote: Hope there wasn't too much glare from the lights on that guy's head a few rows down. HEY! There are only so many perfect heads. The rest are covered with hair. Later
  5. Mets Willets Point wrote: My daughter borrowed my Mets cap on Tuesday and wore it to preschool and left it there so I didn't have my cap for either game. I wore that cap for all the Mets postseason wins. I need that cap back. Holy crap! How could you? You've got to go to the pre-school and get that cap. Do anything it takes, even if it means becoming the lead story on the 6 O'clock News. Later
  6. But I'm guessing there are more ex-MFY fans in Miami and environs than there are in L.A. They'll remember, and treat him fondly. Later
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: Mainly the 'rule' is in there to prevent Steinbrennerian type of hires timed purposely so as to steal the back page headlines in the largest media market in the country from a Game 7 of a WS that he wasn't in. Y'mean like Jeter announcing his engagement on Day 1 of a Mets World Series? The fucker. And worse, the reports didn't even say if he gave her a ring or a gift basket. Later PS - I know this is a managerial thread, but the Eleventh Commandment is "Thou shalt never miss an opportunity to take a verbal shot at Jerek Jeter". It was on the third tablet. Ask Mel Brooks. Back to the thread.
  8. I think the answer lies in the title to the thread (currently) beneath this one - Blackmail. What can we dig up on Eric Hosmer? Later
  9. Lefty Specialist wrote: At this point I just want to avoid embarrassment on the national stage. Take a game at least and show a little fight, Metsies. I want to avoid it at the office level. I'm surrounded by very virulent YLDBs. One good thing, one of the few people rooting for the Mets is a mean looking 6'2, 300+ pound ex-football player. He's a nice guy, but his brain hasn't let his face know it yet. He'll keep their gloating and smirking in check. But, it won't come to that. The Mets are still going to win this fucker. Nothing is ever easy. Later

Yeah, let's do this, need a rowdy crowd....course also need to fucking bats to wake the fuck up A woman I work with will be going to the game. Her son got tickets. He told her they were originally too expensive, but as soon as the KC guy got a leadoff homer in game 1, the price of tickets dropped substantially on Stub Hub. Let's Go Mets. Later
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: The stat about only 3 swing and misses all game was telling. The 5th inning in a nutshell: - Gordon walks on 3-2 count - Rios singles on 1-1 - Escobar RBI single on an 0-2 pitch (this one was a killer) - Zobrist grounds out on 0-1 (but not in a way that would result in a GiDP so both runners moved up - they did that twice last night) - Cain lines out on 1-2 (I was surprised they didn't send the runner from 3rd) - Hosmer 2-RBI Single on 0-1 - Morales singles on 0-1 - Moustakas RBI single on 3-2 count (8 pitches) - Perez grounds out on 0-2 35 pitches Was Terry asked after the game if he considered intentionally walking Hosmer? First base was open and Hosmer has been a run producing machine is the playoffs. If he was asked, what was his response? Later
  12. They are like counterpunchers in boxing. They take what you hit them with, then exploit your weaknesses. Its death by a thousand cuts. Actually, they play good old fashioned National League style baseball. They hit, pitch, field and run. The only tool at which they don't excel is hitting for power, and because they do the others well, power isn't missed much. Fuck. Later
  13. MFS62 wrote: KC is a well balanced team with no real weaknesses. They do everything well if not spectacularly. And they have the "we will find a way to win this" kind of mentality all the way to the last out. This will be interesting. Sigh. Later
  14. El Segundo Escupidor wrote: The Vegas line for M-WP having the first WS meltdown was +500, ftr. Huh? 'Splain please. Later
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think I said in the IGT that I would have preferred having Flores try to hit a double than have him give up the out in favor of Cuddyer, who's been stone cold. Agree, especially since Wilmer seemed to be locked in last night. He hit the ball hard a few times, but that darn KC scouting report had the defense set up to take hits away. In fact, their defensive positioning was good throughout the game. (At least from what I heard on radio. I was at work.) Has FOX blamed the TV blackout on Obama yet? Later

  17. Edgy MD wrote: Not seein' nuttin'. Maybe its a new type of Rohrschach test. "Tell me what you see". I can't see anything, either. Later
  18. My insurance agent is a big Royals fan. He has been for years. I'm afraid he'll find an excuse to raise my premiums when the Mets win. Later
  19. Oops. Well, its still a good idea, as LS said. Later
  20. From MLB.COM: Major League Baseball announced its World Series umpiring crew Monday, led by crew chief Jeff Kellogg, who boasts more than 22 years of experience and will be umpiring his fifth Fall Classic. Ted Barrett and Jeff Nelson, also regular season crew chiefs, were named as part of Kellogg's team, as were Eric Cooper, Jerry Meals, Jim Reynolds and Hunter Wendelstedt. Yes, that's one more than traditionally has been needed for a post season game (6) because the extra will serve as replay ump, then be rotated with the on-field crew. Later
  21. I'd hate to promote the idea that Gelbs is the reason for their winning. Someone in authority might hear that and keep him around. But, who knows? Later

(Again, most EVERYONE pitches better at home, including deGrom and Harvey.) Well, now its, like, Terry's opinion. He has Noah scheduled for game 3, too. Later
  23. Zvon wrote: I like what I have seen of Rose in the studio. He seems to be a bit of a wild card in that he will say anything that comes to mind. Never thought I'd say this, but I find him refreshing. IIRC, Mesingill had a TV commercial that said a douche was refreshing. How appropriate. Later

  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Congressman forced to sing 'Meet the Mets' on House floor after Dodgers lose NLDS I'm pretty sure I've heard better renditions of this song. But none is as sweet as the song sung reluctantly by a poor devil whose team was destined to fall to the Mets. Fall, I say. Fall! Later
