  1. Wil Power for me. The picture was obviously taken in the game the headline talks about. The DeGrom picture could have been taken during any game. Later
  2. Finding Nimmo practically wrote itself. No creativity needed. Ces Boom Bah is my pick to go all the way. Later
  3. Centerfield wrote: Lots of us here act like jackasses. I'm front and center. It's a family. Families fight, act like assholes, and then bond together because whether we like it or not, we're all stuck with each other and in the end, we all want the same thing. Plus, we make each other laugh and feel sane. We were with you up until that last word. This group sane? Of course not. And that's what makes us come back ... and laugh. And that's a good thing. 5. Wilmer Flores won an award named after a dead MFY: http://metsmerizedonline.com/2017/01/wilmer-flores-to-receive-thurman-munson-award.html/ Later
  6. Initial objection that the original Sultan of Swat was an MFY was overcome. Swaat it is. Later

  10. Lefty Specialist wrote: Well, I'm pissed. I thought Harvey would make more of a splash; guess you can't have your 'cake' and eat it too. Cake? MFY fans think its a breath mint Later
  11. Too bad. I was hoping the Daily News cover would be flushed with success by now. Later
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Venezuela, Ireland (though most Irish-born players would qualify for the UK), Canada, Netherlands, Bahamas ... I guess that's why Bobby Thompson is the UK winner. IIRC, he was from Scotland. Later
  13. I'd like to see what happened when he tried to bend down to retrieve the ball on the ground behind him. Later
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Mets sweep a double header in Washington on the day Trump is impeached. Anything I wish for pales by comparison to that one. But I'll try - Wilmer plays 150 games (mostly at third base) and wins the MVP. Later
  15. One of the Munificent Seven players who caught for the Mets in 1962. If you could name all of them correctly, it was generally worth a few drinks in a Queens bar. He is survived by 1962 catching cohorts Sammy Taylor, Joe Pignatano and Hobie Landrith. Later
  16. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-qa-and-sunday-notes-the-best-quotes-of-2016/ I agree with Torii Hunter. Later
  17. Glad to hear Joey Votto is a Met. Anyhow, Familia has been activated by a winter ball team: https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/familia-activated-by-dominican-league-team/212509186 Later
  18. More Mets in the WBC stuff from the SNY website: Mets 2B T.J. Rivera is the latest player to commit to play for Team Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic, according to Jon Morosi of Fox. RHP Seth Lugo has already committed to play for Puerto Rico during the WBC, Morosi reported yesterday. It is not known whether the Mets have given Lugo clearance to participate. Puerto Rico begins Pool play on March 9, with the WBC ending with the championship round from March 20-22. Later

  21. If you want to know how really important he is to the Mets, try to find the recent Mets Hots Stove Report Show on SNY. He is VERY important, both on the field and as a clubhouse leader. Based on the discussion on that show, I wouldn't look to trade him. Later
  22. Centerfield wrote: Wait, as in the Billy Hamilton that hits worse than Juan Lagares? Career sub-.300 OBP. You can't steal first. What could the Mets think they could improve that someone hasn't tried so far? Pass Later
  23. I checked back to the beginning of this thread and it seems we missed the passing of Luis Arroyo. For those of you too young to remember, he was the primary closer for the MFYs in the early 60's and was credited with multi-inning saves in many of Whitey Ford's starts. In fact, one writer joked that if Ford was making $90,000 he should give $20,000 to Arroyo. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/arroylu01.shtml RIP, Little Luis Later
  24. The Baseball America 2017 Almanac will be out January 3. Just sayin'. Later
