  1. Top prospect Amed Rosario has been playing third base for Las Vegas the past few games (since Cabrera got hurt). He is a shortstop and reports since the Mets signed him say he is a good fielder at that position. The Mets have Wilmer and TJ to play third but not many young players who can play shortstop well behind the aging Cabrera and Reyes. I'm wonder why Amed has been moved off short. Has anyone read or heard a reason? Later

Are we forgetting that he made the rain stop before the ceremony? How great was that? That plaque covers more area than he did. Later

I had posted this in the wrong thread. Jeter was an egotistical little b**ch. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/derek-jeter-beside-angry-joint-interview-rod-192215012.html And he still is. Later

    LOL Yankees

The only thing better would be a soaking rain during the put-up-the-number-of-the-lousy-fielding-shortstop ceremonies, and then the sweep. Later

  9. There's a bright side to the dark clouds. While those guys are on the DL, they'll have plenty of time to study for their GEDs. (sorry, I've never made a Seawolf comment before. But after reading everyone else's comments over the years, that one just came to me. I usually reserve those kinds of comments, and worse, for athletes from THE Ohio State University.) Later

  12. Two pitchers in the eighth? Of THIS game? Is Terry trying for some kind of Tony LaRussa Award? LAter
  13. Speaking of Rene Rivera, has anyone noticed that he's hitting over .300? He has been a consistent bright spot all season. Good for him! And Duda went yard tonight for St. Lucie. Later
  14. (Channeling Bob Klapish here) While we've been talking about his tactics for a long time, its been kind of a relief that (I'm paraphrasing and summarizing here) "he does a good job managing the clubhouse". Now, with news that Harvey has been pushing the envelope of team rules for a while, are we sure Terry's been doing a good job in the clubhouse all this time? What have we not heard about? Later

That reminds me of the Joe Pepitone/ popcorn story so vividly described by Jim Bouton in Ball Four. But this also reminds me of another passage in that book. (I paraphrase, but its pretty close) Mickey Mantle showed up at a game totally hung over, then went out and hit a game winning home run. When he came back to the dugout the fans were cheering, and he said "I wonder of they know how really hard that was". Harvey should have shown up, especially since he wasn't scheduled to pitch. Later

  19. Hey! I adopted him yesterday, and I never read that until just now. Thanks, Later
  20. The 18 inning game gave the announcers wayyyyyy too much time to tell us about next week's game, when a lousy fielding shortstop will have his uniform retired. One of the guys in the booth (I didn't watch too long because my gag reflex was beginning to kick in) was waxing idyllic about playing with that person. I believe he was having difficulty keeping both hands on the stat sheet. I turned it off at that point. Later
  21. bmfc1 wrote: What was the point of switching from Salas to Smoker? 2 outs, no one on, it's 7 frigging 0, and he makes a pointless pitching change. You beat me to that. Giving Terry a relief pitcher is like giving a young child a toy. He has to play with it. Later
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Meanwhile ... we're being no-hit thru 4 As of this moment (2:28PM Eastern time), Binghamton, St. Lucie and Columbia have combined for no runs on four hits over nine innings. Not a good day so far for the organization's hitters. Later
