  1. We can all sleep soundly knowing the good guys won. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/hall-fame-denies-pete-roses-request-let-stand-election-013225095.html It over, Pete. You committed the most unforgivable sin against the game. And you have not been forgiven. Later
  2. Ceetar wrote: I'm sure the Yankees will beg out and continue believing all their fans were born in 1892. No, they'll all proudly display the name "Jeter" on their backs. Later
  3. seawolf17 wrote: Seriously, Mets? You couldn't throw your local school a fucking bone, late in the draft? Not even for a guy who was the conference player of the year? Bleh. The NHL used to have "territorial protection" of players within a radius(50 miles) who only they could draft. Gee, I wonder why Montreal and Toronto had so many good hockey players? Later
  4. Some pitchers may be more comfortable than others in a six man rotation. When he pitched when he was brought up, Wheeler was on his regular rotation rest. Or, he just had a stinker in him. It'll be interesting to hear what he says in the post game interview. Later
  5. Fman99 wrote: He's crying because as soon as the Mets picked him one of his tendons snapped. Badass. Later
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: Or they simply ranked him higher than others do. These rankings, as NFL fans have failed to realize for like 90 years in a row now, are simply opinions and not etched on tablets anywhere. I agree with all that stuff, but I still like the Derek Jeter vision theory. Later
  7. Is this complete game the last of the "Who's going to be the first to accomplish.. " prediction thread? Later
  8. The Mets get this guy: David Peterson, lhp, U of Oregon. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/5/3/15529394/2017-mlb-draft-profile-david-peterson-lhp-oregon Later
  9. Schmidt was ranked much lower in the past few weeks, BA had him ranked 32nd, MLB ranked him 49th. So he must have something going on, like he has already signed. (Derek came to him in a vision and told him to sign). Later
  10. Ceetar wrote: Conforto has a stiff back. Flores scheduled day off. Is he f'n kidding? Scheduled day off??? He's benching his hottest/ best (take your pick) hitter and replacing him with Reyes? And then batting Reyes EIGHTH? The senile old fool* never lets a hot player stay hot with those scheduled rests. Incredible. Later * = yes, he's younger than I am, but i'd never do that crap.
  11. They are a whole better team to face when Freddy F'n Freeman isn't in their lineup. And I don't miss him a bit! Later
  12. G-Fafif wrote: Don't peer into the dugout for T.J. Rivera, Tyler Pill or Matt Reynolds. All have been optioned in the name of healthy bodies. T.J.?? WTF?? Later
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Wilmer Flores ... potential All-Star? He gets my vote. Later
  14. THAT'S What I'm talkin' about. Great twin bill. And I salute that great thread title. Very Eurithmical. Later
  15. TJ gets a starting nod. Good. With Legares, it would be better. Later
  16. Tim Teufel - pinch hitting again: http://m.newstimes.com/sports/article/Former-Met-Teufel-pinch-hits-for-Gooden-at-11209361.php Later
  17. Edgy MD wrote: I disagree that "He has taken months to decide whether he can't play any more, and he still hasn't done it." He has decided, and continues to decide, that he can. Take that sentence out and my message still stands. He hasn't demonstrated his qualifications to be the next manager of the Mets. I don't think managing a major league team is a learn-on-the-job position. Later
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I like it when George Burns does it on Burns and Allen. I had forgotten about that. So did I. LOL! I was trying to be funny, not nasty. Sorry. Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I liked Logan a lot. I just didn't find Deadpool funny at all. And when you're not enjoying the humor, comedies are a chore to watch. You haven't broken the fourth wall. Vic, I liked Blade III. Ryan Reynolds began to show us sarcastic hero chops and that (as well as Jessica Beil's shower scene) made the movie for me. Also, (insert blushing emoticon here) I liked League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and The Phantom. I'm blushing because I can't figure out why I did. Later
  20. Still only one hit, but it was a good one - a Brucekaboom. Later
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Looks good to get perfect-gamed tonight My unofficial over/under on the number of hits the Mets will get tonight is 1 1/2. Later
  22. Ashie62 wrote: I have seen David Wright long enough to provide for my due diligence. David Wright for Mets manager. That is a very good example of a bad idea. What has he done to show you that he can make the quick decisions necessary to be a manager? He has taken months to decide whether he can't play any more, and he still hasn't done it. I can't imagine how long it will take him to decide when to remove a starter who doesn't have it that night. (OK, not a fair comparison of situations, but you get the message.) IMO, he would have to demonstrate his ability to manage on some level before he is given a major league job. Later
  23. Rockin' Doc wrote: I'm a double threat poster, I not only have typos throughout my posts, but I apparently confuse people and/or facts rather easily. Getting old is hell. Not it isn't. Think of the bright side. You can say and do the weirdest stuff you never did when you were younger, and people just chalk it up to "old age" instead of getting ticked off at you. Trust me on this one, Doc. Later
  24. Haven't checked the numbers, but it looks like Frank Catalanotto had as many cards as a Ranger as he had hits with the Mets. Later
