  2. Edgy MD wrote: I actually erred in that report. Bard wasn't pitching for the St. Lucie Mets. He was pitching for the GCL Mets. No wonder I could't find it in a St. Lucie box score. And I looked. I even went back a few games because the original post didn't include the date of the game. Thanks. Later

  4. Edgy MD wrote: We've got a new third baseman! I guess that will make his Strat owners a bit happier. Later
  5. He finally pitched tonight. He hadn't pitched since 2015. Lost the game. But it was his first start after a brief rehab stay. 6 IP, 4 ER, 6 K. Welcome back, kid. Stay healthy. Later
  6. 41Forever wrote: Wow. So with the potential loss of the entire infield, it might make some sense to see what Rosario can do. Slap! Slap! Snap out of it! Stop trying to be logical! Later
  7. Their uniforms are green and gold. Alonso was one of the rumored targets for the MFYs at the trade deadline. Annnnnnnddd .. that's all I got. Later

  11. According to the guys on SNY last night, Rutherford was the MFYs 3rd rated prospect. Later

  13. Oh, waitaminnit. This just in.. Fuck Yadier Molina. Later
  14. If they want Duda and Reed, the deal starts with the Mets getting the MFY medical and training staffs (whichever helped Judge grow that big) and Jeter's first born. THEN we start talking about the players we get. Later
  15. Y'know, Montero is pitching a decent game. But, OY, those errors (sigh). He has to learn not to let things like that bother him and keep the score close. Now lets get some runs. Later
  16. Maybe he's tipping his pitches and the other teams have finally figured out his "tell". Later
  17. Matt Holliday. Later
  18. The three Coreys all pitched in last night's 5-3 victory. Later

Frayed Knot wrote: So just how dominant has Judge been? We were talking in the ASG thread about the odds of him coming at least slightly back down to earth. This piece agrees although he'd almost have to come down considering what a ridiculous outlier he's been so far this season. There's always hope. IIRC once pitchers found out that Willie Kirkland couldn't hit the low inside curve (usually fodder for lefty batters) he went something like 2 for 100 and was never again the feared hitter he once had been. As opposed to an Argumentative Reality Ump, which we already have in Angel Hernandez. Bravo! You beat me to that. Later
  22. 1. Who will be the SHaMVP? TJ Rivera will deserve it, but Conforto will get it 2. Who will lead the SHaMs in HRs? Conforto 3. Wins? deGrom 4. ERA? Reed 5. RBI? Conforto .489 Later

  24. Saw it today and liked it. I agree with LWFS's last paragraph about the final fight scene. Oh, I dated one Israeli girl and knew several others. They're all like Gal Godot. Later
  25. I read (forget where) that the average fly ball distance has increased about 5 feet since 2015 (or around then). It doesn't sound like much but adds up to a lot. There's apparently scuttlebutt that the seams on the ball are tighter (not as elevated) this year, thus reducing drag in flight. More important than reducing drag in flight is that the lower seams make it harder for the pitchers to grip a breaking ball. And once they throw the ball, the lower seams offer less wind resistance, so they break less. See Bernoulli's principle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernoulli%27s_principle So, its mostly sliders and fastballs and fewer pitches that change the plane of the hitter's swing.
