  1. Not a bad idea. I'd be for it. Later
  2. Nymr83 wrote: Edgy MD wrote: "Jeetuh's gonna do right and make him a Yank!" this made me gag. Does this mean they'll have enough money left over after they sign Machado to play third base? Ugh! (SC=87) Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Meanwhile, that's going to be it for Wright, isn't it? It sounds like it will be. But there's that "exam in New York". Or is that just an echo from the past? Either way, it sounds like that's it for this year. Later
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He should just change his name to "Shirley" NO! I heard a report on radio a few days ago (WCBS?) about a study that found that deaths from storms named after women were three times higher than from those named after men. The study covered that last ten tears. One conclusion was that we think of women being "gentler and nicer" than men, so the public doesn't believe the warnings are as serious when the storm is named after a woman and tend to disregard them. Keep the name Harvey, please. Later
  5. Nymr83 wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Harvey set to start Friday. HARVEY! ESPN announces Harvey will be skipped against the Astros as his name bears an unfortunate similarity to a Hurricane and may upset Houston residents. BOC. Later
  6. Nymr83 wrote: d'Kong76 wrote: Put me down for one who isn't rooting nor interested which christian has the better BA and at what level. You really keep track of that? Yikes. i didnt even know Judge was a practicing Christian. can't a guy just root for funny/embarrassing things to happen to the yankees? Neither did I. I don't follow that team enough to know that, and if I did I wouldn't care. It was certainly not my intention to pick them because of their religion. Nymr got it right. Later
  7. deGrom in a day game. An early day game. Time for form to hold up. Later
  8. d'Kong76 wrote: Put me down for one who isn't rooting nor interested which christian has the better BA and at what level. You really keep track of that? Yikes. Huh? This thread just mentioned Tebow's slump and I was comparing it to Judge's slump. From today's news. https://www.apnews.com/6ee42203cda7406c9ca0eb5b592ca933/Yankees-sitting-Judge-for-2-days,-hoping-to-end-slump?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AP_Sports It was meant to be about Schadenfreude concerning the slump of "the next great MFY slugger". You're misinterpreting my posts. Again. Are you saying that I can't make ANY comments that mention Tebow lest they be characterized as religious? That's just not right. If he proves he is good enough to make the team, I will root for him, just like I rooted for Daniel Murphy who shares Tebow's beliefs. What do I have to say to show you that my comments about Tebow are not motivated by what you constantly accuse me of? Later
  9. Speaking of declining batting averages, who among us isn't rooting for Aaron Judge to finish the season with a lower batting average than Tim Tebow? Yeah, I know the level of competition is different, but Tim plays half his games in a MUCH tougher ball park. Not trying to hijack the thread, so if this post should be moved to the LOL Yankees thread, please do it. Later
  10. Edgy MD wrote: I missed where you said "example," but everybody needs rest. Sometimes young people more than most. D'oh! You're right. I originally wrote the sentence to include the word example and referred to Doc's post. Then changed the sentence before I hit enter. Later
  11. Damn! I know that I won't be able to ask this next year, but I realize that I hit Submit when I meant to hit Check My Math and I failed to give Amed Rosario 1.25 points for this game. BG - May I please ask you to add that at your convenience? Oh Oh. You're going to incur the wrath of the great BG. Didn't he severely chastise you that last time you did that? This is going to make Game of Thrones look like a picnic. I'm hiding my eyes. Later
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Really? Terry should be fired for resting Amed Rosario in the second game of a doubleheader? Of course not. I said "example". It was just an example of one more of those decisions that Doc, and others, have mentioned. We have discussed the relief pitching "formula" he uses, replacing a pitcher who may have only thrown 5-10 pitches in the previous inning. Why should a 21 year old need rest? He seems to have a similar formula in the back of his mind that tells him players need to be rested, even if they are on a hot streak. Rests are for older players or those who are slumping. Later
  13. Resting a 21 year old player in the second game of a twin bill (yeah, so it was a night game after a day game. But still ... ) after he had hit a game winning home run in the first game? Another one of his head scratching decisions. Its time. Later
  14. 41Forever wrote: Unorthodox way to win, but I'll take it! What are you talking about? We had 'em all the way. (SM = 92) Later
  15. Its a long standing MFY tradition. Billy Martin would have been so proud. But Billy's teams brawled in bars and night clubs (e.g. - the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station and the Copacabana) and the current team sets a great example for the kiddies by doing it on the field. Later
  16. Robles just pitched 3 innings the other day. Is Terry trying to stretch him out to be a starter? Later
  17. The only other MFY catcher on their 40 man roster is on the DL. And we don't care. Later
  18. Don't let Murphy beat you, Jake. Later

  20. Rosario is not mailing it in. He's been playing like he wants to set an example for the veterans. I'm impressed. Later
  21. Are you kidding? https://www.yahoo.com/sports/ian-kinsler-gets-almost-unheard-fine-criticizing-umpire-angel-hernandez-183520847.html There's no justice in this. Next thing we know, MLB will be defending the Taliban.* Later * = calm down. Said with a good deal of sarcasm.
  22. Very solid catcher. I hesitate to use the word "backup" because he was the primary catcher for extended periods of time. In fact, when I looked* at all of the players who have played the position for the Mets (thank you, UMD) , he just might be close to the top 10-15 Mets all-around catchers, considering offense, defense and game calling, of all time. Of course, there's a big gap from the very top few to the rest, but still ... Later * = a quick glance
  23. I think it may be time to stop the "Montero is pitching, is he all we have?" kinds of comments. He is now pitching like a solid, if not spectacular, major league starter - a back end of the rotation type of pitcher. Most of his past few games have resulted in "quality starts" and that is what we expect from that type of pitcher. LAter
  24. Most of all I like the interviews. Always with a smile. Always with the appropriate word. We could tell he cared, about the game, the fans and life in general. You could look into the man and see someone who you would want to be a role model for future generations. I can't think of any better words, or I would use them. Later
