  1. Nice pick, Edgy. https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/dominic-smith-hits-another-hr-keeps-up-hot-september/254388826 Later

  3. Happy Anniversary, Edgy. Didn't you post the pictures here? IIRC it was an outdoor wedding. Right? Later
  4. Anyone else notice that Cesar Puello was playing left field for the Rays? I knew my kid would make it to CitiField one day. I just never thought it would be that way. Later
  5. My heart says "Reyes". My head says "Cabrera". I voted logic over emotion. And I'll probably hate myself for doing it. Later
  6. I'm waiting for one of the NY Post writers (or some WFAN callers )to say that the Mets should get him because of all those RBIs still in his bat for the rest of his contract. Later

The last home run ball I caught was hit by Jim Hickman at the Polo Grounds. I wasn't looking at myself, so I don't know what my face looked like, either. Later Wow! So this is our little Mets losing game nightly tease here? I think I've given the details here before. Mets were losing, the fans were filing out. Hickman hit one off the corner of the auxiliary scoreboard that hung on the facade of the second deck near the left field foul pole and it caromed into the lower deck right at me. I was so surprised that I dropped it, then just had to bend down a pick it up. There was nobody else around other than the friend who had gone to the game with me. OK, so it wasn't a clean catch. I still don't know how my face looked, but it was probably a look of surprise. Later

  9. OK, so they don't all have 26 homers. It just seems that way. That guy only has 22. Later
  10. Edgy MD wrote: 20 in a row is something else. I think your team winning eight in a row is the point at which you feel like you're on drugs. Twenty in a row must be like ecstasy on the moon. The last team to do that was the 2002 A's. Are we sure it was just ecstasy? Mets stuff - Terrence Long played 162 games for that club. (Baseball-Reference lists him as the centerfielder.) Later
  11. I think the batboy (batperson?)also has 26 homers for that club. Later
  12. That it was a relief pitcher came as no big shock. The only question was the name. Later
  13. As I posted in the thread suggesting this forum: Stadia no longer there: YS YS II Polo Grounds Ebbets Field Shea Stadium The Ted RFK Stadium. At RFK, I saw Washington play the Minnesota Twins, which probably qualifies as some kind of incest. Places still in use: Citi Camden Yards. Fenway Park - my impressions of Fenway Park inspired my story parody "Anne Rice Reports the Ballgame" which I've probably posted in the CPF. I've also visited, but no ball game was being played that day: Hi(ram) Bithorn stadium (San Juan, Puerto Rico) Skydome Jarry Park (Montreal) Later
  14. They changed pitchers. That's good. I didn't want Sewald to vulture a win. (They ARE going to win, you know.) Later OE: Oops.
  15. I hope Paul Sewald isn't thirsty because he will not be getting any beer today. Craperoo, that sucked. LAter

  17. From the baseball lore file: I read that Denny McLain stuck out his tongue to let Mickey Mantle knew he was going to get a room service fastball so he could hit his 500th* career home run. Later * = or was it another milestone?

Later Neither of the two Travises have cracked the lineup. I was thinking Travis Taijeron, since he hit the home run last night. He'll have to get 'em next time. Later

  20. MF got to see a no-hitter. Unfortunately, it was against Binghamton, and shared by two pitchers. Molina pitched well and only gave up one run. Later
  21. Its over. Amen. Later

  23. Sholom is always appropriate. And I think I'll file this under "Things I just learned in 2017". Later
  24. He's showing he wants to stay with the team for the full season next year, do ya' think? Familia's outing was encouraging, too. Later
