  1. And I'd like to draw attention to a special achievement. A few nights ago, Drew Gagnon threw a complete game, two hit shutout against Tacoma at Las Vegas. Wow! Just, wow! A tip o' the virtual hat to that one. Later
  2. Peter Alonso went 4-5 last night, with 2 HR and 4 RBI. Since his mid-year promotion to Las Vegas, he has 20 HR and 65 RBI. The only place he's "Leaving Las Vegas" to go to will be the AFL. Sigh. Later
  3. Frayed Knot wrote: Not so fast with that right hand turn, Gio. Your clubhouse is to the left. Its a step in the right direction. But if they were going to trade Gonzales, I was hoping it would be to the American League. Or better yet - a team on the far side of the moon. Later
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Amelia Earhart is a poor example of someone who avoided a bad outcome by preparing properly. Actually, she was correct. There are three parts to a flight; take-off, flying and landing. She got the first two thirds. Later
  5. Edgy MD wrote: That's about four bridges down the road. Just happened to see this today in my horror scope, but have not verified it: Amelia Earhart said, "Preparation, I have often said, is rightly two-thirds of any venture". Or, I'll just cite the 6 P's. "Prior preparation prevents piss poor performance". Or, from my classes for my Masters in Project Management - "You have to have a plan, and a contingency plan". I'd like to see the plan. Later
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: Frayed Knot wrote: the Braves counter by saying we'll see your ex-Met and raise you by a Lucas Duda Good call, Braves. You should just release Freddie Freeman and give Lucas the job. That's ridiculous!!! They're going to release Acuna and play Duda in LF Too bad, because I'm not sure the Wilpons can afford Acuna .. oh wait! I forgot the cash coming back from the Phillies in the Bautista deal. Yeah. they could afford him. Now let's see it happen. (S/M = 93.7) Later
  7. Lefty Specialist wrote: He's blocking David Wright. Seriously. Frazier is the only regular hitting with any kind of pop. And if they move him to first to make room for David, what happens to the Bruce experiment at first base? If they activate him, the insurance, which pays about 75% of his salary, would stop. The pro-rated remainder of this year's salary is around $2.4 million. Is it worth it to pay him $2.4 million to be a pinch hitter? As for recouping the money, will his fans go out to the ballpark to root for him if they don't know if they'll see him in the lineup? Lots of questions, not sure about the answers. Later
  8. I predict that in that dry desert air against some pitchers who played in A ball this year, Alonso will hit at least one home run that will not only make your TV screen but also radar screens at NASA. Later
  9. bmfc1 wrote: And you'll never guess who the Mets will be playing: oh, you will, lots of Miami, Washington, Houston, and Cardinals but no MFYs. They're scared. Later
  10. He's starting to hit like the back of his baseball card says he should. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. After a slow start, they are starting to get what they paid for. At an OPS+ of 101, his career OPS+ of 110 isn't out of reach. Later
  11. What a dick. https://www.khou.com/article/news/nation-world/red-sox-star-jd-martinez-defends-pro-gun-instagram-featuring-hitler/285-588614679 Whether you are for or against guns (or for or against anything for that matter), there has to be a better support of your position than Adolf Hitler. 13. Chico Fernandez. He [crossout:2u5ufz29]led them to the World Series[/crossout:2u5ufz29] was on the 1956 team. You had to be there. Later

  15. I read they will have until sometime today to finalize the deal. Until then, this thread feels creepy, like grabbing the shovel while the body still has a pulse. Later
  16. Nice. Thanks. Later
  17. Have they announced what happened to McNeil? Later
  18. bmfc1 wrote: Great job Seawald. DFA his ass. And perhaps Mickey should have had Blevins ready but he got outsmarted. New Scandanavian Cooking on my PBS station is how they brew Swedish coffee. 60 grams of coffee for each liter of water. They visited Costa Rica and Columbia to show how it is grown and harvested. 20. Frayed Knot wrote: At a quick glance, that 'Players Weekend' patch, being worn on the right shoulder, looks like a baseball version of the evolution of man. That's John Rocker, two figures to the left of Man Walks Upright. Later
  21. bmfc1 wrote: Crap, something is wrong with McNeil. The Mets need their best hitter! Triple crap. Neither Kelenic (Kingsport) nor Alonso (Las Vegas) played last night, and Kelenic is isn't in there today. And now McNeil? Its a conspiracy against the entire Mets organization. And I think its being orchestrated by Vladimir Putin. Or maybe not. OE: Alonso is back in the lineup today. Never mind. Later
