  1. One of my favorite '62 Mets. RIP Later
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That's ambitious. I'd have been happy for a bagel with cream cheese. Up here where I live, finding a good bagel is harder than finding World Peace. Later
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Quick, before the mojo wears off... Is there anything else on our wishlist? World Peace. Later
  4. Another infielder. And Imelda Marcos got another pair of shoes. Nothing really to comment about, other than he hits righty. And maybe it makes one of the shortstop prospects now trade fodder. Can't hurt. Later

  6. Frayed Knot wrote: And now he's being given a second chance ...... . Also ... he was absolved (or at least not proven) of wrongdoing ... . Those words bring to mind Connie Hawkins. Later
  7. Another splash would be luring Kim Ng (former assistant GM with LA and the MFYs) out of the MLB office, where she is assistant VP of operations (to Joe Torre). Later
  8. My first memory of him still lingers - the picture of him and his wife in a country club setting, right out of a fashion magazine and thinking, "They're no Tom and Nancy". Later
  9. Does Omar deserve his own thread? Later
  10. It's the day. https://twitter.com/stevenacohen2/status/1324778722428420097?s=21https://twitter.com/stevenacohen2/status/1324778722428420097?s=21 And now open, for some REAL business. Later
  11. Well worth the gamble. I think it was Mickey Lolich who said, "you don't pitch with your gut." Later
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: Michaels did both the Reds & Giants locally in addition to his work on national games. Didn't know that. Then he might get into announcers wings of both the baseball and football halls. Later
  13. Dizzy Dean mangled the English language. His most memorable quote was "Zarilla slud into third". Dave Campbell had a minor league season during which he hit 20 HR and had 36 RBI. That made me sure the Mets would try to acquire him. I'm guessing Buddy Blatner gets in, Buck? And is Al Michaels really remembered as a baseball announcer? Later
  14. I had to drop out of the bidding. I could only raise $2 billion. Later
  15. Dellin Betances has exercised his $6 million player option to stay with the Mets. Later
  16. Newsday reporting that Brad Brach has exercised his option to stay with the Mets. https://sports.yahoo.com/brad-brach-exercises-option-stay-211037263.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/brad-brach-exercises-option-stay-211037263.html Later
  17. Absolutely no memories of him. He was just along for the (bumpy) ride. Later
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Man, that's a strange quote from Torre. Mariano Rivera raised Torre's baseball I.Q. by 40 points. Later
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I have it on good authority that the reason deBlasio didn't block the deal is because Manfred said to him, "If you fuck this up, we'll just put the Mets in New Jersey. How would you like to have that as part of your legacy?" You already posted (something like) that on page 3 of this thread. I can believe someone gave him that message, although he says he won't run for Mayor again. Later
  20. Mets claim two pitchers off waivers: https://sports.yahoo.com/mets-claim-rhps-jacob-barnes-203924891.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/mets-claim-rhps-jacob-barnes-203924891.html Later
  21. Screw the photoshopped pictures. Just give us the champagne. Later
  22. I used to work with a guy whose dad was a member of the same Country Club as the Wilpons, and frequently played tennis with Jeff. He said Jeff was a jerk (Among other not so nice things). He left the Company about five years ago and I lost touch with him. Too bad, I'd like to hear what he'd say today. Later
  23. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=49379 time=1604087574 user_id=68] Not even eye contact. Acted as if I was invisible.
  24. Big sigh of relief. Happy that DiBlasio didn't throw a monkey wrench into the deal. (see the link in the first paragraph) https://sports.yahoo.com/steve-cohen-reacts-approval-mets-194615139.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/steve-cohen-reacts-approval-mets-194615139.html LGM It might not be the most important news story of 2020, but at least we can forget about the other ones for a while. Later
  25. I wonder if Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City is still there? Later
