I don't see him as "middle infield" help, but Murph at third and McNeil at second ain't too shabby. (Of course, LeMahieu and McNeil would look better) Later -
I hope he brings a new player with him. Later

... But they needed a catcher and this one seems fine. Right. As Casey Stengel said, "If you don't have a catcher, you're gonna' have a lot of passed balls". And this one seems up to catching his share of pitches better than the guy he replaced. Later

=G-Fafif post_id=52071 time=1607794741 user_id=55] It's done, per Heyman: James at 4 years, $40 million. Let us hope he comes of age in a Mets uniform.

They're narrowing the choice, with two possibilities emerging: https://sports.yahoo.com/mets-down-zack-scott-jared-175559114.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/mets-down-zack-scott-jared-175559114.html Later

Nice to see him back; could fill a need. Later

OK, I'll play. The catchers are Chill Chill Coleman and Yogi Brrra(who also managed). Later

There have been numerous reports that he is coming. But as of now, he's just breathing hard. Later

I was hoping for a Hanukah present. But so far it has been more like Pass-over. Later -

Rule V Draft: Nothing major Metly happened: https://sports.yahoo.com/mets-lose-pitching-prospect-dedniel-174703322.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/mets-lose-pitching-prospect-dedniel-174703322.html Later -
Still nothing definite about the Hartford Yard Goats. They're still listed as "reportedly" alive. https://www.mlb.com/news/new-minor-league-affiliates-for-2021https://www.mlb.com/news/new-minor-league-affiliates-for-2021 They were announced as the host team for the 2021 Eastern League All Star Game. https://www.milb.com/news/hartford-yard-goats-to-host-2021-eastern-league-all-star-game-311257516https://www.milb.com/news/hartford-yard-goats-to-host-2021-eastern-league-all-star-game-311257516 But I wonder if they will push all those things back a year once baseball re-starts in full, or just reschedule the ones missed last year. I got out of bed early and rushed downstairs to my PC, like a kid running to see what Santa left under the tree, to check out last night's deals. There was nothing there. Then I realized why. This year's meetings are virtual. There were no back-room late night meetings at bars or in cigar smoked rooms where GMs hash out deals. Another way 2020 ripped the joy from us. Rats! Later -
Teammates on Joe Torre's quite likable 1982-1984 Atlanta Braves. To me, the words "Joe Torre", "Atlanta Braves" and "Likeable" look wrong in the same sentence. Later

He has a career 5.35 ERA, but he also has the ability to get both righties and lefties out, Well, that seems to be oxymoronic right there. Later

Frayed Knot wrote: Olney (Robert Stanbury Olney III) grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont, so that would be the prize for anyone who cares to take him up on that bet. Then the only question that remains is whether you'd consider gaining ownership of a dairy operation in north-central Vermont to be a 'win'. LOL! Good point. Must be something about New Englandahs that makes them think they know everything about baseball, but don't - like Peter Gammons. Later

Buster Olney says on ESPN radio that he will be his family farm that Springer ends up on the Mets. I have no doubt the Mets will do their part, but this is the first place I've seen it suggested that George is interested. I still can't think of someone who calls himself "Buster" as credible. I'm not counting these chickens until I hear the peep. Later
