Mets signed Cleveland reliever Jared Robinson to a minor league deal. https://sports.yahoo.com/mets-sign-former-indians-pitcher-022501941.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/mets-sign-former-indians-pitcher-022501941.html Later -

George Weis passed on him (and Luis Tiant) in the same year of the minor league (that generation's Rule V) draft because he said they were "too colorful". What a shame. The Mets could have had both for under $50,000. If you remember that Hall of Fame is also about fame, he should be in there. RIP Later

Bid'ness is reportedly being held up because of the DH https://www.yahoo.com/sports/mlb-virtual-winter-meetings-open-190503735.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/sports/mlb-virtual-winter-meetings-open-190503735.html Barry M. Bloom Mon, December 7, 2020, 2:05 PM EST To illustrate the paralysis currently gripping Major League Baseball and the players, one need look no further than the designated hitter rule. The virtual Winter Meetings begin Monday, and a lack of agreement between MLB and the union regarding whether the DH will be used in 2021 is already impacting the free agent market. The stance of the MLB Players Association right now is that the players have a contract for at least one more season, and the universal DH is not part of the Basic Agreement. Later -

It seems like there have been fewer major deals (trades and signings) during the meetings the past few years. But the groundwork for those deals has been set during the meetings. Now that they're remote, who knows what will happen? I hope the Mets "come home from" the meeting with at least one significant addition, with more to follow. CF, I'm with you on Brad Hand. Later -

Accardo's picture is largest, probably 4X the others. Kevin Kierst, Tony Defrancesco , Dustin Clarke maybe 2-3X larger. Among the players, Lugo, Familia, Nido and Hereida maybe 10% larger than the others. Hope that helps. Later

=G-Fafif post_id=51676 time=1607116911 user_id=55] Chris Young (the pitcher) who didn't want to leave the Dallas area to become Mets GM, stays in the Dallas area to become Rangers GM.

=Centerfield post_id=51662 time=1607089172 user_id=65] If his uptick in pitch framing is real then I'm on board. He's a pretty drastic drop off from Realmuto, but if this means Springer, another quality starter and Brad Hand, then it's worth it.

Edgy MD wrote: Is he asking about players the Mets didn't tender a contract to, or players non-tendered by other teams and of interest to the Mets? Apparently none of the players non-tendered by other teams are centerfielders, in case Steve and Sandy need me to tell them that. Later

If all else fails, he might be an interesting back of the rotation/spot starter. He says he wants to rejoin, and then retire from, the Mets: https://sports.yahoo.com/bartolo-colon-wants-play-one-024925906.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/bartolo-colon-wants-play-one-024925906.html But if they put the DH into the NL, we would be deprived the fun of watching him bat.
