  1. We know Cano is on the 40 man roster, but does he count against the 40 man roster? Or is it a situation like players on the 60 day injury list where another player can be added? Later
  2. I remember Murph always inserting an extra syllable in his name. He pronounced it Uh-mal-UH- fa-ta-no. Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: The best shortstop in New York history is a stretch to award to anybody after one game. Relax. It was just a hyperbolic opportunity I saw to insult Jeter, one of my favorite things to do. Later

  5. Doug Flynn was beyond awful. He might be the worst hitting everyday player in Mets history, worse even than Ordonez. Not even close. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/moranal01.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/moranal01.shtml Flynn was a good fielder. I watched Moran abuse ground balls like Donald Jr. abuses rare species. Later

Remember to point that out to every MFY fan you see. Remember, a day without insulting Derek Jeter is a day without sunshine. Later

  9. Gerrit Cole cheated? Tsk Tsk From the LA Times via Yahoo: https://sports.yahoo.com/yankees-gerrit-cole-named-ball-150540946.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/yankees-gerrit-cole-named-ball-150540946.html “Hey Bubba, it's Gerrit Cole, I was wondering if you could help me out with this sticky situation,” the pitcher wrote, adding a wink emoji. “We don't see you until May, but we have some road games in April that are in cold weather places. The stuff I had last year seizes up when it gets cold.” Later

  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Does that include making room for a contract for Lindor and Conforto? And remember, just because Springer is asking for $175 million over five, it doesn't mean that's what he'll get. Yes, that is the amount remaining after the acquisitions. (as calculated by SNY) I agree. You can't always get what you want. https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t-s&p=you+can%27t+always+get+what+you+want#id=1&vid=a87cee5d85f8f525cb56b91979765249&action=clickhttps://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t-s&p=you+can%27t+always+get+what+you+want#id=1&vid=a87cee5d85f8f525cb56b91979765249&action=click Later
  16. =Centerfield post_id=53543 time=1610117195 user_id=65] Now that we have Lindor in hand, there is speculation that Springer is less likely than he was before.
  17. With both Giminez and Rosario going and McNeil playing second, who plays third? JD Davis is the initial reaction, but there's only so much ground Lindor can cover. And who is the backup shortstop? Carasco didn't just have a normal baseball injury, he was diagnosed with Lukemia. I'm sure the physical will reveal how well he has responded to treatment. Later
  18. From the time I first saw him playing for Binghamton, I thought he had a chance of being good. He was dazzling in the field, but what caught my eye was when he took a curve ball from a lefty (he was batting lefty) and drilled it the opposite way for a triple. He didn't just try to make contact, he swung with good pitch recognition and attacked it. And he was just 20 at the time. He'll be a good major leaguer, and I wish him well. Later

That "source" is probably SNY, which has been saying the same thing. This may be a chicken/egg situation. OE: Jeff Passan of ESPN+ said it was down to 2 teams back on Dec. 21.
