  1. =G-Fafif post_id=61560 time=1618964971 user_id=55] Has to be the most homers by a Met who never hit one in September.
  2. I looked at his minor league numbers and thought he'd be our regular first baseman for years to come. Then they just sold him, not even getting a player in return. Who ever envisioned that his legacy would be as a coach, not as a player? RIP Later
  3. Now we're gong to wonder who's got malk. Later
  4. Who can forget Walt "No Neck" Williams? Welcome to the organization, Mason. Later
  5. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=61136 time=1618601679 user_id=68] =batmagadanleadoff post_id=61109 time=1618595956 user_id=68] it might be 27 degrees tonight in Denver.
  6. Maybe they can find some of Charlie Finley's old dyed-orange baseballs to use so they won't get lost in the snow. Later
  7. Was it finally determined that Paul Wilson hurt his arm by pitching in very cold weather? Later
  8. Puzzling (6 letters) -> enigma. And we have called the Mets both over the years. Later
  9. =Fman99 post_id=60974 time=1618454544 user_id=86] I have every intent of landing me a choice piece like that 32 years down the road. Don't tell Fwife of course.
  10. Landrith was in 23 games in 1962. And since he was the #1 draft pick - ever (in the expansion draft), he was supposed to be the starter. Harry Chiti was in 15. Joe Ginsberg was in 2. You really want to immortalize someone by naming an award to honor the ultimate backup catcher? I vote for Joe. Later
  11. My phone just rang. It could be Rojas calling me to warm up. OE: It wasn't. Darn! Later
  12. Well, that's what happens when you don't strike out w RISP. At least you get one run home. Later
  13. Sherman tosses a turd into the punchbowl. https://nypost.com/2021/04/14/mets-are-flushing-away-jacob-degrom-greatness-sherman/https://nypost.com/2021/04/14/mets-are-flushing-away-jacob-degrom-greatness-sherman/ More $ stuff: Financially, he does not have a state-of-the-art contract, considering all the deferrals in it. But, no matter how it is dispensed, deGrom is still to earn $33.5 million this year and the same amount next year, after which he can opt out to seek further riches, or just live with another $30.5 million in 2023 and potentially $32.5 million in 2024 if the Mets pick up an option. He is always brutally correct. And it hurts. Later
  14. Probably won't hurt the fastball pitchers too much. But I think it will drive breaking ball pitchers who "live on the black" nutz, because their pitches will now be outside the strike zone instead of on the corner. It may necessitate changes in delivery/ release point and will also give hitters an extra split second to pick up the spin on the ball to follow it better. Later
  15. Honestly... no more malevolent-- or amoral-- than most front-running investment managers, say. The only difference is, he was screwing his clients instead of the ones on whom they were theoretically getting over. Y'know, us. Not all of his clients were rich. https://nypost.com/2021/04/14/bernie-madoff-dead-how-he-nearly-ruined-the-mets/?fbclid=IwAR321zrK95crbeXEITj0ILHXgBRlq5NP-6wjCeg1UaWqYiy6mn8NPidWrZIhttps://nypost.com/2021/04/14/bernie-madoff-dead-how-he-nearly-ruined-the-mets/?fbclid=IwAR321zrK95crbeXEITj0ILHXgBRlq5NP-6wjCeg1UaWqYiy6mn8NPidWrZI The thing that's most important to remember is that while the families that used to own the Mets might have been the highest-profile victims — and, before that, beneficiaries — of ... made-up math, they were hardly the face of that fraudulent financial calamity. No, that would be the lion's share of the 37,000 victims in 136 countries, the nameless, faceless folks who entrusted ... with their retirement, with their life savings, with their families' long-term well-being, and wound up broken by ...'s perfidious plot. For years after ...'s lie was exposed on Dec. 11, 2008, we saw their faces, often streaked with tears, usually ransacked by ruin. It's when you saw those faces on the nightly news when you realized the 150-year prison sentence ... received for his crimes was a slap on the wrist. Or a tickle. Later
  16. He was so malevolent, I 'm surprised he wasn't pardoned by Obama's successor. Later
  17. =kcmets post_id=60749 time=1618358452 user_id=53] I haven't been paying attention, did Stroman talk his way into getting moved up?
  18. =G-Fafif post_id=60734 time=1618356261 user_id=55] They win the dumb thing!
  19. =Gwreck post_id=60622 time=1618349174 user_id=56] Wait a second. What possible reason is there to have a 7 inning game? This is idiotic.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Not for nothing, but I wonder when the last time the Mets sent two African-Americans to the mound in a double-header was. Having two African-American starters on the same Mets team might go back to the days of Al Jackson and Sherman "Roadblock' Jones. (I didn't look it up.) And I'm not sure if they started both games of a double-header. (Jones only had three starts) Later
  21. =duan post_id=60531 time=1618313375 user_id=99] I like the chances of two wins here
  22. https://twitter.com/anthonydicomo/status/1381715052361826304?s=21https://twitter.com/anthonydicomo/status/1381715052361826304?s=21 Part of a straight double-header? That wording is going to offend some fans like this one: https://sports.yahoo.com/m/51eb5fe7-0c13-3053-a69e-d4fa07b80ffa/out-gay-fan-asks-mets-to-end.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/m/51eb5fe7-0c13-3053-a69e-d4fa07b80ffa/out-gay-fan-asks-mets-to-end.html DePaoli stated via email: “Our organization's position on inclusion has always been very clear and we have been leaders in the LGBTQ community and proud to promote diversity at all of our games.” DePaoli continued: “We strive to make sure that everyone is welcomed and celebrated at Citi Field as New York is the most diverse and inclusive city in the world.” Later
  23. Only two bats in the picture, kinda' metaphoric for how the year has gone so far. Will it be prophetic? Later
  24. I see how he was called safe. beating the play and passing his foot between the umpire's eyes and the plate, but that probably should've been overturned. I was at the post office and the postperson (who knows I'm a baseball fan) told me there was a terrible call in that game. I hadn't seen it, but my first thought was "Is Angel Hernandez involved?". When I got home, I checked to box score to see who the umps were. Later
  25. =G-Fafif post_id=60397 time=1618156202 user_id=55] John Curtiss starts/opens for the Fish.
