1. =kcmets post_id=78923 time=1633011823 user_id=53] My guess is 'sarcasm meter' or such.
2. Heard yesterday that the 2021 Mets are the first time in major league history to have been in first place after 106 games and end the season with a sub-.500 record. Hey! An all-time record. Makes a Mets fan proud. The players were basically the same, and they even added a player who was one of their hottest hitters at the end of the season, so it must have been that great managing job. (S/M= 97) Later
3. =Fman99 post_id=78889 time=1632964861 user_id=86] Or, you know, do the opposite. This just in: Lugo is bad on back to back appearances/days. If I know this, what does Luis know?
4. Elieser Hernandez 1-3 4.24 Taijuan Walker 7-11 4.57 7:10 PM Later
5. Noah Syndergaard 0-0 Trevor Rogers 7- 2.67 Scheduled for a 7:40 start. Later
6. Mets up 1-0 in the 3rd. RBI by Lindor after a Nimmo triple. Later
7. Lefty Specialist wrote: He better not have something that 'mysteriously' pops up in Spring training and could have been addressed a few months ago. We're definitely not getting the full story here, either from deGrom or the Mets. That kind of stuff used to happen frequently back when arm shoulder surgery wasn't as "routine" as it is today. Teams would prescribe rest for the year, only to find out next spring that it really was needed, wasting a year when the pitcher should already be rehabbing. If that is the case, that new PR/Media/image firm they just signed on with is going to get a workout spinning this one. Later
8. =kcmets post_id=78771 time=1632849347 user_id=53] handsome older and whiter.
9. Nice to appeal to new and broader audiences. But if they put an exciting, contending, team on the field, where will those new fans sit when over 3 million old fans return to the ballpark? Yeah, I know. But nothing they are doing adds one victory to the win column. All it will do is make more people aware, through more channels, how mediocre they are. Later
10. Don't forget "San"--one of my favorite Franciscos. And how can anyone who was a fan of the movie and TV show Alien Nation (I was) not like Sam Francisco? And, with Edgy, I hope Lindor rapidly makes it to the top of that list. Later
11. From a baseball sense, hell yes. But when I read "Sandy connection" I cringe a bit, considering some of his non-player choices. Sandy has proven to be a better judge of talent than he is a judge of character. So I dropped it to yes. Later

Coda

Building a winning team is like a chemical reaction. When it fizzles, you have to add or remove elements to achieve the desired result. Or you may have to do both. This team appears to need both. BTW - Forensic isn't just a post-mortem (As used in crime shows). The definition of Forensic is anything that could be admitted as evidence in a court of law. While many might have described this season as criminal, I'm not sure whether anybody is going to get sued or arrested as a result. Later
13. Andres finished the year at .317/.373/.498 with 13 HR and 46 RBI in 72 games. sigh Later
14. I thought I posted this yesterday but I must not have hit submit or something. My wi-fi sometimes craps out outside. Funny thing is, there's gonna be people reading this that weren't (or barely) born when this came out. Ueck doesn't suck, his schtick and personality are just dated. That happens sometimes when you're knocking on 90's door. I was at a Hartford Whalers playoff game against Montreal years ago. There were Canadiens fans in the last few rows, waving a flag and cheering. They were winning 3-0 and the Hartford fans were getting annoyed. It looked like a fight might break out. I turned around and shouted "Who got you your tickets, Bob Uecker?" Everyone started laughing, and tempers cooled. Even the Canadians knew that commercial. Later
15. Now that they're out of it, and wins are as useful as a third nostril, all the players have left is adding to their stats. Forget pride. They have been playing like was gone a long time ago. Trevor Rogers 7-8 2.67 Marcus Stroman 9-13 3.00 Later
16. I didn't see the game. We went to the Big E (The Eastern States Exposition - the sixth largest fair in the country) with my wife, daughter and grandson. The Clydesdale horses were there and after their walk they left a huge dump in the street. I told my wife, "There's a pile of crap to look at, since I won't be watching the Mets game today". I was right. Later
17. I've been thinking of Brett Baty Francisco Alvarez Ronny Mauricio and Mark Vientos They are not that far away. About those prospects: https://sports.yahoo.com/top-mets-prospects-lived-hype-143125707.htmlhttps://sports.yahoo.com/top-mets-prospects-lived-hype-143125707.html Later
18. Edgy MD wrote: Although he made little noise, he went down to Buffalo the next year and smashed 35 homers, which is 35 homers, no matter what league you're playing in. He was a lefty hitter, and IIRC the old Buffalo ballpark had a very close, high, left field fence (like the L.A. Coliseum) so Duke must have learned to hit to left, a la Wally Moon. He also walked 100 times that year, but OPS wasn't a thing back then, or he might have found his was back to the majors. RIP Later
19. =kcmets post_id=78540 time=1632532702 user_id=53] Odd camera work tonight, it's like the joint keeps getting dark.
20. Luis Cessa (Mets farmhand traded for Cespedes) and ex MFY is lighting it up for Cincy. https://www.audacy.com/wfan/sports/yankees/luis-cessa-has-been-lights-out-for-reds-since-yankees-trade?utm_campaign=www.audacy.com%252Fwfan&utm_content=1632414639&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_term=WFAN-AM&fbclid=IwAR3qNBIgvxhkx53oj_XoQQnnipFiMx3g9mxxvhvrvntjH48-hrYNIgj5PEAhttps://www.audacy.com/wfan/sports/yankees/luis-cessa-has-been-lights-out-for-reds-since-yankees-trade?utm_campaign=www.audacy.com%252Fwfan&utm_content=1632414639&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_term=WFAN-AM&fbclid=IwAR3qNBIgvxhkx53oj_XoQQnnipFiMx3g9mxxvhvrvntjH48-hrYNIgj5PEA Since joining the Reds, Cessa has pitched to a 1.31 ERA in 20.2 innings of work, striking out 17 and allowing just one walk. Batters are hitting just .203 since the trade on July 28, Later
21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: You're darn right on Hatcher-- the footage they show is damning. I think we have all heard the Hernandez-Orosco story told both ways The way I had always heard it was Hernandez telling Carter ,"If you call for another fastball, I'm going to shove it up your ass." That seems logical, because a pitcher wouldn't throw a pitch the catcher wasn't expecting, so the catcher would be crossed up. I had never heard that Hernandez said anything directly to Orosco. Interesting. Later
22. Edgy MD wrote: For me, I've known Kase for a long time. I disagree with him often enough, but he'd be the first guy I'd trust in a tight spot. This. Later
23. Good job, you got "veteran" in there, but you missed two of his favorites: "He has a world of speed", and "He has a world of power". (And he seemed to be gurgling on his own phlegm when he said the world "world".) Those were usually reserved for an opposition player, to set the fans up for a loss, because the Mets could never beat a team with players like that. I think Tim McCarver was the first one I heard use the word "laser" for a home run. It was a Spring Training game, and the ball was hit by Butch Huskey. (That is my second Butch Huskey reference this week. I think I have to lie down.) Later

Arriba!

I remember one of the DJs for that station. It may have been a jazz format. He used to announce the call sign as "W-A-D-O Radio, mommy-o and daddy-o" Later
25. Syracuse is the only Mets minor league team to make the post season. They will be starting a series against Scranton- Wilks Barre tomorrow, 9/22. Later
