  1. Brett Baty left today's game with an apparent hand injury. What are you hearing about the severity of the injury, Fmann? Later

  5. MFY rookie Anthony Volpe's first major league hit was a multi-hop ground ball that just got under the glove of the shortstop. He's trying to remind their fans of Derek Jeter. Later
  6. AAA Syracuse has started their season. And Brett Baty is hitting like he wants to get back to the majors very soon. After scoring only two runs on Opening Day on Friday, the Triple-A Syracuse Mets offense exploded for 16 runs and five home runs on Saturday in their 16-6 win over the Worcester Red Sox. The Mets were led by third base prospect Brett Baty, who hit two home runs and knocked in five runs. Catcher Francisco Álvarez and first baseman Mark Vientos each hit a solo home run and shortstop Ronny Mauricio knocked in two runs as four of the Mets' top eight prospects fueled the Syracuse offensive outburst. And Francisco Alvarez not only threw out a baserunner attempting to steal, but he also stole a base himself. https://metsmerizedonline.com/brett-baty-other-top-prospects-lead-syracuse-to-blowout-win/https://metsmerizedonline.com/brett-baty-other-top-prospects-lead-syracuse-to-blowout-win/ Later
  7. I now it isn't true, but that seems like the most RBI in one game by a Mets lefty hitting catcher in a zillion years. Later

And right after deGrom was removed after three and two thirds, the Rangers score nine runs in the bottom of the fourth. Typical AL pitchers battle. Later

  11. And maybe Fred would have been visited by the Ghost of Baseball Future, seen the light, and we would have had all those good things... and more. We'll never know. Later

  13. From reviews and discussions of the movie since it first came out, I get the impression that that how well people liked it is inversely proportional to their age - the younger the reviewers, the higher the rating and vice versa. Later
  14. Edgy MD wrote: But maybe the big beneficiary will be Jeff McNeil. Who knows? But I'm an outfield wall abolitionist. Not sure if I would like that. The year he was swinging for the fences, his HRs went up but the other part of his game declined. I think he's a much more effective batter when he uses the whole field. Later

Frayed Knot wrote: =MFS62 post_id=120557 time=1679755916 user_id=60] My recurring memory of Jed Lowrie is that the Mets signed him for $10 million and four days later the MFYs signed D J LeMahieu for two years at $12 million per year. D J gave his team 26 HR and 102 RBI the first year and led the AL with a .364 BA the second.(COVID year) Jed gave the Mets bupkis. And in the two seasons prior to those signings Lowrie played everyday for Oakland and out-OPS'd LeMahieu at Coors Field. Sometimes shit that looks like a no-brainer in retrospect wasn't so obvious at the time.
  18. ABC morning news showed the USA beating Cuba on the news crawl at the bottom of the screen this morning. Either the news director is really proud or it was a slow sports news day. Later

  24. Mauer played more years (15-12) and had marginally better counting stats. But the last four years, Mauer was more a first baseman than catcher. Posey had more dWAR so I guess that makes him a better catcher. But all-around player, I'd take either one. Flip a coin. As a sidelight, though, anyone who has to go through life with the name Buster Posey has to be one tough sumbitch. Later
