  2. I can just hear Art Howe or Willie Randolph saying "he battled". Later
  3. Baty and Alvarez. Let's show them some Syracuse power. Later
  4. Somebody should have tried to convince Kershaw this was a playoff game. He's 13-12 4.22 in those games. Later
  5. =TransMonk post_id=122814 time=1681861309 user_id=71] Are we going to run out of pitchers? It's only April 18.
  6. Carrasco to the IL with elbow problem: https://www.sny.tv/articles/mets-injury-tracker-2023?fbclid=IwAR3e2e1HEXptIE1VVyjOz9rYrv9aRQBlnF2fAkypscRb2BZGVUdVTMdxaZwhttps://www.sny.tv/articles/mets-injury-tracker-2023?fbclid=IwAR3e2e1HEXptIE1VVyjOz9rYrv9aRQBlnF2fAkypscRb2BZGVUdVTMdxaZw The Mets recalled RHP Jeff Brigham from Triple-A Syracuse and RHP Dennis Santana has been outrighted to Syracuse. Later
  7. Be interesting to see if they start Baty against the lefty. Later
  8. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. What "brokes" are these fixes trying to remedy? Shitfuck is an understatement. Later
  9. And then, last but most importantly, most important, one singular jigsaw puzzle piece. I say last because that's the last piece of the puzzle "symbolizing" the Mets human last piece to the puzzle, Gary Carter , who singlehandedly won a World Series for the Mets before he ever put on his Mets uniform. Or eight jigsaw puzzle pieces symbolizing Carter's Met uniform number, which hasn't been issued in about 20 years, the most puzzling thing in Mets franchise history. That gave me my first out-loud laugh of the day. Your sarcasm rifle was well aimed. Later

  11. Dansby Swanson tied a Cubs record that had been standing since 1900.(from Yahoo Sports) Per ESPN Stats and Info, Swanson's achievement of recording at least three hits in a game on five occasions makes him the fastest player to accomplish that feat since at least 1900 for the North Siders. Really? Whose record did he tie? IMO, anytime a reporter says a record was tied (or the first time since ...) and doesn't tell us who held that record, they should have their BBWAA card suspended for a year. Especially one that had been standing for 120 years! Sloppy reporting. Later
  12. Is there a possum in this press box, too? Or just sloth? Later

  14. And no tribute paid to the Dallas Black Giants who played there for about 50 years until 1949? They could have done something, even if it was on the inside of the collar. Sad. Later

  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Either that, or blood seeping through a bandage. Nahhh. The Red Sox have that one locked up. Later
  17. I suspected this when I saw he wasn't in the starting lineup today against a righty pitcher. Or, as Jon Sterling might say, "This good move is brought to you by Bran Flakes". Later
  18. =kcmets post_id=122418 time=1681585468 user_id=53] Yeah, that's some crazy combined ERA! Watch, it'll be a 2-1 affair... Carlos Carrasco RHP (0-2, 11.42 ERA, 5 SO) Shintaro Fujinami RHP (0-2, 17.55 ERA, 5 SO)
  19. Seems like Butto pitched a day or two ago. I'm not sure he would be ready to use as a (gasp) starter. Later
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Bobby Orr When I worked for Prentice-Hall they published a book about him titled "Orr on Ice". There was a bet between two company execs over how many of the 50,000 initial printing would be returned. The bet was more than half or fewer than half. The stakes were a bottle of Jack Daniels Green Label (which wasn't sold in the North back in those days.) The guy who had the "over" won. Later
  21. https://twitter.com/BenVerlander/status/1647018982145413121 Oh, John He's going to have to work on that one. Later
  22. Nobody reads the 24th post so,,, You do when you go to the first post on the next page and it just says, "sometimes". Later
  23. Speaking of Syracuse, Bret Baty just hit a grand slam homer. Just sayin'. Later
  24. Edgy MD wrote: =Centerfield post_id=122322 time=1681500774 user_id=65]Time Machine: They'd stand no chance. They'd get lit up every outing and eventually quit. I bet Johnson would outpitch the penguin, though.
  25. Edgy MD wrote: I'm sure it's mostly the unusual angle of the shot, but Dave Hamilton's form makes him look like somebody who has never seen anybody throw a ball in his life, but read about it in a book and decided to give it a try. And Reggie also doesn't look smooth doing whatever he's doing. His left arm is sorta' blurry and I can't figure out why they're showing him throwing a baseball that way, as though he's pitching. And of all the players shown, whether they were good or not, whether they played well against the Mets or not, I never liked Sal Bando. And I can't think of a good reason why. Later
