  1. The Mets haven't hit a home run in 52 innings, the last one was by Alonso on May 10th. They're due. Later

He said he glanced toward he dugout to see who was doing it because it was annoying him during the at bat. Looking at the angle of his head and eyes, I find that plausible. Later
  3. I'm not sure if the length of appearance is a function of they have more pitchers to use, or whether since they have so many, they don't throw so many innings. A chicken-egg discussion. I remember when you had starters, long men, now called middle relievers, and relievers (with maybe one designated closer). If you didn't have one closer you had a righty/lefty combo - Mossi and Narleski, Brosnan and Henry. Of course, they had 10 man or fewer staffs. I liked the old way better. Later OE: they had fewer roster moves available to them back then. I'm not sure how that impacts this discussion but might be a factor, especially guys brought up and then sent right back down after pitching one game.

  5. When you keep losing to bad teams, are you one of them? Beginning to wonder. Later
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Take a strike, ninth-inning Mets. Hear me, Nimmo. Exactly. When they're down (by that many), their first strike should be a called strike*. Yet at least two of the Mets batters (according to my pitch by pitch report)swung at the first one, even though they were ahead on the count. Fundies. Later * = Luca Brasi reference
  7. They're going to have to score at least four runs to win? I'm not feeling very confident. Later
  8. Edgy MD wrote: ??? Yes, I was referring to those two teams and upon re-reading it, I understand the confusion. My keyboard stuck and all the letters I typed didn't get to the post. Now fixed. Sorry. Later
  9. This Meneses guy is having a nice career this series. Later
  10. I know he's trying to get as many righty hitters into the lineup as he can. But Pham at cleanup and Canha at first looks like something we'd see in a split squad Spring Training game. Later
  11. Carrasco is scheduled to start his second rehab game today for Binghamton. Later

You said you wanted Vientos (or Mauricio) on the team instead of Sánchez which totally misses the point. The point is that they've had injuries and are trying to get sone offense out of the C position while the first four options they've tried [Nido, Narvaez, Perez, Alvarez] have been injured and/or significantly sub-par.

Lefty Specialist wrote: =MFS62 post_id=125315 time=1684000096 user_id=60] I can understand wanting to put as many lefty hitters in the lineup as possible, but if I were manager I'd only substitute Perez for Alvarez at gunpoint. Later Yeah, it's Trevor Williams, not Nolan Ryan. But I guess you can't play him every single day.

  19. I'm tired of hearing about Canha's quiet contributions that "don't show up in the box score". 21. So at what point should that worry turn into real concern that they can't turn it around? 4th of July? The All Star Break? Later
  22. OK. Enough is enough. The hole has been dug. We got that. Now, how about climbing out of it, guys? Later
