  1. That was the first win on a Tuesday this year. Kudos to the Tuesday Night Club for bringing this home for us. Later
  2. Yeah. But are the A's lovable? Amazing? Will there be dozens of books about them? I really don't care who wins this race to the bottom. Nobody can replace the 1962 Mets in our hearts. (but the A's do suck, don't they?) Later
  3. The local Las Vegas voters may soon ask why a new ballpark that only seats 30,000 will be paid for with $1.5 billion of taxpayers' money and not private money. https://lasvegassun.com/news/2023/may/29/nevada-legislators-weigh-plan-to-put-mlb-stadium-o/https://lasvegassun.com/news/2023/may/29/nevada-legislators-weigh-plan-to-put-mlb-stadium-o/ Later
  4. From SNY: The Mets have made an addition to their Triple-A depth, acquiring 1B/3B Tyler White from the Minnesota Twins. White last appeared at the big-league level back in 2019 with the Dodgers and Astros. Across 256 career MLB games, he has 26 home runs and a .752 OPS. Through 16 games down in Triple-A this season, White's slashing .259/.386/.414 with two homers and three doubles. The Mets have assigned him to Triple-A Syracuse. Later
  5. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: There's a lot of violent and over the top objection to Pride events, Bud Light getting slaughtered because of an Instagram post by a trans person, Target stores getting roughed up for having rainbow on clothing displays, people worried the gays are coming for their kids. And I just heard that Conservative-owned Chick-Fil-A is being attacked because they hired a diversity coordinator. (I didn't hear many other details) This anti-pride movement is getting crazy and not going away. Can one of the mods split this off to a separate thread - maybe in the non- baseball forum? Later
  6. It was my way of noting that he's been getting clobbered regularly and not one or two bad outings skewing the numbers. Later
  7. A brief, but accurate, description. Later
  8. Butto has a 7.30 ERA and from the box scores I've been following, he deserves every digit of it. Later

  10. When do you think it will happen?
  11. Edgy MD wrote: But even by the standards of other advertised medications, those Keytruda ads are scary as shit. "Other possible side-effects include acid shits, rusty lung, sudden death, and unexplained forest fires. Talk to your doctor if these symptoms persist." ... "and please dispose of the package before you plotz, so we don't get sued by your family". Later
  12. There shouldn't be Saturday night games unless the daytime temperature is over 100 degrees and they don't have a dome. Later
  13. Mauricio didn't play last night. Was there a announcement about why? Is he inured? What have you guys in Syracuse heard?. Later
  14. 8:40 PM start. Later
  15. The WFAN guy said Hendricks is coming back from the IL. Later
  16. Can't see the game, just saw the box score. To use an old baseball line, is Senga throwing that many pitches because he wants to keep warm, or is he getting squeezed by the ump? Later
  17. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Gary said to expect chilly weather with strong winds blowing in. Could be in the high 40's by the stretch and 20-30 mph winds. So, Alonso's homers will only reach the tenth row of the bleachers. Later
  18. =metirish post_id=126474 time=1684958075 user_id=72] Was Carter a good pilot at least ?
  19. Today is "Education Day," so they get a sell out of 10k kids from area schools. I've been there before for that promotion it's quite loud. I saw the attendance when I checked the box score and thought it might be a promotion day. Have fun tomorrow. Later
  20. Edgy MD wrote: No. Cardenal was a Phillie in the first game of the doubleheader, but didn't play in that game. I have a personal memory about Cardenal, but don't want to hijack this thread. Maybe sometime in the future. Later
  21. Edgy MD wrote: José Cardenál (who switched teams in the middle of a doubleheader, if I recall correctly) Joel Youngblood played for two teams on the same day. 22. I personally went to a Syracuse Mets game, under perfect 78 degree sunshine, and promptly watch them go down 9-0 in the first two innings, only to come back and take an 11-10 lead, and then lose 17-12 (we departed in the 8th, down 15-12, as my wife and daughter were beat). I usually ask "How did they look?", but I kinda figured it out from your post. BTW- they're down 7-1 in today's game, so there's still hope. Later
  23. I looked at the losing pitcher and smiled. He seemed to have a whammy on the Mets for a couple of years -either beating them or being taken of the hook when his team scored runs. And it was rubbed in by Ralph Kiner who liked him and always referred to him as the "Polish Prince". Even after he stopped playing when he was an announcer, and Ralph would point him out to the camera. It got to the point that if I heard his name even mentioned, the Mets would lose. And it is because of that, I didn't type his name. The Mets are playing tonight. (Yes, I'm very superstitious) Later
  24. Nice story. Thanks. Later
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Certainly interesting that they stacked with righties, but left Canha and Álvarez out. Maybe Sanchez has good numbers against Smyly from his AL days. Later
