  1. Hope he has a full recovery. That's his push-off leg. Maybe it impacted his delivery. Later

This new construction gives me an feeling of the same kind of cluster fuck unless they improve the road system. And I didn't see any new roads in that drawing. But it wouldn't be the worst stadium exit I've heard of. I was in Kansas City when there was a Monday Night Football Game. Some fans didn't get out of the parking lot until seven in the morning. Some bright light in the police force decided to give every driver leaving the lot a breathalyzer test. There was such a backlash, it caused the Police Chief to resign and almost ousted the Mayor. 3. Gotta' root for the guy. Later
  4. =roger_that post_id=140693 time=1699388083 user_id=128] It's almost an admission of the Mets' inferiority to the Yankees, a confession that they would, to paraphrase Willie Randolph, like to export the Yankees' winning ways to their sad losing franchise. .... Maybe that's just me.
  5. The traffic on the Whitestone Expressway is starting to back up as we speak. Later
  6. #1 is Dr. Ron Taylor Later
  7. With his ability to play short, second and third and a career slash line of .174/.266/.308 in 386 Major League AB, I would classify him as a futility infielder. Later
  8. =metirish post_id=140658 time=1699361916 user_id=72] an advanced ability to make decisions using evidence.
  9. Mets claim utility player Zach Short from Detroit to fill the spot opened when Ottavino declined his option. Bryce Montes de Oca (who's recovering from Tommy John) and Peyton Battenfield both cleared waivers and were sent to Triple-A. Later
  10. Bonds shouldn't have taken it for granted and slid. Later

The Cubs fans really hate the Cardinals, but tend to ignore the animus the White Sox fans have for them. They look down on them. (from a long time friend who loves his Chisox as much as we love the Mets) Later
  12. Some of the entries in our old song parody contests could be re-posted here because they didn't mention the player's name. Later
  13. "Peaked at Rookie Ball" Very diplomatic. LOL! Later

    WTOP

Hate to say it, but the lineup of that 2015 KC team was meh - the team OPS was under 1.00. And there wasn't a pitcher who will be remembered as great, or even good, five years from now. But when I saw WTOP, wasn't that the call sign of the radio station that carried Senators games? I thought that you were going to announce something dramatic, like they would no longer be carrying sports or sports news. Later
  16. He left to be a starter. I doubt he'd come back to be in the bullpen. Later
  17. More today:(from Metsmerized.com) The New York Mets made more roster moves on Thursday when they placed six players on outright waivers to continue their 40-man roster reconfiguration. Right-handed pitchers Peyton Battenfield, John Curtiss, Elieser Hernández, Bryce Montes de Oca, and Denyi Reyes, and outfielder Tim Locastro are on waivers. Curtiss, Hernández, Reyes, and Locastro can all elect free agency if they clear waivers. Later
  18. Former Mets farmhand and no longer on-the-hook Rangers right fielder Nelson Cruz has announced his retirement. He was the guy I was trying to think about in the "They later became all-stars" thread. But since he never played for the Mets, he wouldn't have counted anyhow. Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: This guy is gonna make you totally forget Trevor Gott. I hope so. But as with Gott, you never forget your first case of hemorrhoids. Later
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: 29 years old, has appeared in 80 big league games, all but one in relief, and all in the last two seasons with Seattle. A lifetime ERA of 2.70 over 83.1 innings. 28 walks, 92 strikeouts, allowed 8 home runs. With numbers like that, I wondered why they let him go. Here's the rest of the story (from Metsmerized): his season ended due to needing Tommy John surgery in July. He's expected to be out all of 2024, but he will have five years of team control left starting next year. OE - posted the same time as Seo. Later
  21. I've always remembered the Al Jackson game (he's still my all-time favorite Met)and had forgotten the Gardner game until Rob passed away and it showed up in the obits. Your line that Dick Young wrote that Rob Gardner was one of the young Mets who made Al Jackson expendable was something I hadn't remembered. RIP Rob Later
  22. =kcmets post_id=140096 time=1698437872 user_id=53] I'm kinda in fuck Scherzer mode. But he's hurt. If not, he will be. Or the plan is he won't be by Game 7 and the he might be. Then he'll last a an inning or two and tank and it will come out he was pitching hurt. Fuck him.
  23. =roger_that post_id=140252 time=1698750618 user_id=128] I enjoyed him on the 1962 Dodgers, who could field not one, but two outstanding outfields:
  24. Two immediate memories: When he played against us for LA at the Polo Grounds, he hit a home run that cleared not only the roof of the upper deck but the light tower on top of the roof. When I saw a game at RFK stadium, I asked the usher why two far upper deck seats were painted blue and why the grass in one area of left field was worn out. His answer to both was "Frank Howard". The seats were where he hit wo monstrous home runs and the field was where he stood when playing the outfield. RIP Later
  25. Edgy MD wrote: He hasn't, as discussed above. It's just a projection, but he's put up a modestly stronger profile to this point, depending on how one measures such things. Things will change as the offseason progresses. Please feel free to root for somebody else in there. Since my kid Vasil won't be ready to step into the rotation from Spring Training, I will cast my troth with Butto. Later
