  1. I've been checking out the number of guys not getting much support. It looks like he won't get in, but DANG , someone who could put up Matt Holliday - type numbers would look great in the OF for the Mets this year. Over 15 years, his 162 game averages were: 40(2B) 3(3B) 27(HR) 104(RBI) .299/.379/.510/.889 132(OBS+) One of those really good, but not HOF caliber, players. Later

  3. I saw some Martinez OR Turner articles asking which one the reader would prefer. I really don't see them as a tradeoff. The team needs a third baseman and a righty DH and Turner would fill both holes. But what about when Turner would be playing third? Who would be the DH? So I say sign Turner and go after Martinez, too. They are both short term solutions until the kids are ready to be productive. Soler or Teoscar would have to be (IMO) longer term deals. Later
  4. I voted Gilbert. Lenny Dykstra type without the arseholeness. And they need outfielders. Later
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Mike Puma reporting today that the Mets are showing strong interest in Giolito. I have strong interest in Kate Beckinsale. But that doesn't mean I'll get her. Later
  6. I'll sign up for a first half Lucas, please. But those 41 HR scare me a bit. Later

  8. =nymr83 post_id=143641 time=1703641301 user_id=54] Hiding from authorities when you are probably one of the top ten most recognizable celebrities in your country? Not a very well thought out move.
  9. One of the presents I got yesterday was his autographed baseball card. C'mon kid, make it. Big! Later
  10. He had some power as a middle infielder at AAA and wanted him to get a chance with the Mets. He did show power - 3 dingers, but little else(.136 BA) Later
  11. According to the league, the Mets tax bill totals $100,781,932 million after they went above the luxury tax threshold for the second consecutive season. It is the highest luxury tax bill in major league history, which doubled the previous high of $43.6 million by the 2015 Dodgers. https://metsmerizedonline.com/mets-hit-with-record-101-million-luxury-tax-bill/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=mets-hit-with-record-101-million-luxury-tax-billhttps://metsmerizedonline.com/mets-hit-with-record-101-million-luxury-tax-bill/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=mets-hit-with-record-101-million-luxury-tax-bill At least they set one record. 12. We're calling it pivot. In dating it is called the rebound - the girl you go heavy for after your real girlfriend dumps you. I hope the next players we go for don't get the vibes that were really weren't interested in them in the first place. Later
  13. =metsmarathon post_id=143465 time=1703259871 user_id=83] I absolutely love the idea of getting woodruff.
  14. =MFS62 post_id=143204 time=1702941466 user_id=60] I'm predicting it will be announced Thursday

  19. He started out as a fan frequently calling the station late at night. The host (Steve Sommers?) and the producers liked him and (jokingly) suggested he get some training and apply for a job. He did. He went to the Columbia School of Broadcasting (which sounded like a scam) and applied for a job and got it. I admire the guy for chasing his dream. Later
  20. Joe leads with his heart instead of his head. As I've heard him say about his beloved Mets AND Jets, "I'm not getting any younger, and I want to see them win another championship before I die". A visceral fan. Later
  21. I'm predicting it will be announced Thursday for the Friday papers, because Friday news hits the Saturday newspapers, which traditionally have lower readership. (I realize there are other news media, but those reporters who cover the teams deserve a break.) Later

  23. If you're saying "Oh, fudge, the Braves got Matt Carpenter", we still have a chance. The Braves just released him a few days after trading for him. He's available for about $5.4 million. Later
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Steve Phillips wrote: I found it interesting Yamamoto went to meet with the Mets for a dinner at Steve Cohen's house and then they scrambled to put together a meeting with the Yankees while he was there. It seemed like meeting with the Mets was a priority. The cynic in me tells me that he wanted to give the MFYs an opportunity to beat the offer he had just heard from the Mets. Later
  25. It was not my intention to allege any sinister motives for the delay. I said it was the reason why nothing's been announced. It is a perfectly valid medical reason. Later
