  1. He grew up in New Jersey. I rest my case. Later
  2. Thanks, Edgy. We knew you would provide additional insight. One of our daughters is a Maryland Terp (we would always stop on the way to/from visiting her), and our best friends are from Bal'mer. So we've spend a lot of time in the city, and have special memories good times there. Later
  3. He had shown occasional power in the minors and I wanted to see how much he could contribute when he was brought up. His 1 HR and 8 RBI in 47 games said "not too much". Later
  4. Oh, well. On to the next maybe. Later
  5. According to MLB network this morning, he is "expected to make his decision soon" but hasn't signed yet. Later
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Diego Castillo, DFA'd and waived this offseason by the Diamondbacks and claimed by the Mets, only to be DFA'd and waived by the Mets and claimed by the Yankees … has now been DFA'd by the Yankees. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He's been disrespected by more people then Rodney Dangerfield. Later
  7. On one of his books, Jim Brosnan described Bob Rush as "Just good enough to lose with". https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rushbo01.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rushbo01.shtml Some of the Mets pitchers might fit that description. Later
  8. One of the lists I read (BA? Pipeline?)doesn't have Mauricio on it because of the unknown timeframe for recovery from his injury. Later
  9. =kcmets post_id=145992 time=1706449918 user_id=53] Kinda liked him but expected better than we got?
  10. That makes my RPBP * come down a bit. Later * = Relief Pitcher Blood Pressure
  11. My kid is now ranked the #8 prospect in the organization by Amazin' Avenue: https://www.amazinavenue.com/2024/1/25/24049983/mets-top-25-prospects-for-2024-rhp-mike-vasil-8 Later
  12. There was a report (SNY?) that said the Mets are still looking to add a hitter. Are J.D.Martinez and Jorge Soler still available? Later
  13. That's $11-12 million worth of blood pressure medicine - for my blood pressure. The current makeup of the bullpen leaves me nervous. Later
  14. More investigation into Wander, from ESPN. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39340208/wander-franco-investigation-mlb-detailshttps://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/39340208/wander-franco-investigation-mlb-details Later
  15. Edgy MD wrote: But 10-15-20 years down the road, when the veteran's ballot is filled with a bunch of Harveys and Willises and Linceca who were great for a bit and then fell into the sea, guys with longevity and aplomb might seem more remarkable. Yes, in the same way Jim Kaat was finally recognized. Later
  16. Chad ochoseis wrote: Bartolo Colon clearly isn't a Hall of Famer, but I would have liked to see him get more votes. This. Later
  17. Edgy MD wrote: That'll fill that Ohtani-sized hole in the Angels' roster. But they won't have to find Treasure Island to pay for his contract. Later
  18. =metirish post_id=145734 time=1706051998 user_id=72] That's it, Wagner and Sheffield miss out I'm disappointed for Wagner, I'm sure he'll get in next year
  19. Before this thread gets away from us, I'd like to thank you for all the work you've put into it. Later
  20. =metirish post_id=145720 time=1706047548 user_id=72] HOF show is on MLB Network right now , not sure when actual announcements are
  21. Weren't the final results supposed to have been announced at 4PM EST today? I haven't seen anything yet. Later
  22. Ok, Edgy, you did it. Not only did you stretch our memories with the question, you strained our eyes with your disclaimer. And, when we finally were able to focus on both the type size and italics, you have subjected our brains to a philosophical question - "what IS a year's supply of Jiffy-Pop™, anyhow?". How can we ever know? Are we worthy of knowing? I must retreat to my cave to ponder. And I may never know. Later
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Well, he's squatting, not pooping. The two aren't synonymous. Catchers don't poop their pants every time they squat, do they? Wait... DO THEY???? It depended on whether we were trying to catch a knuckleball. Later
  24. Ex-Met Collin McHugh hangs 'em up after an 11 year career. https://www.si.com/mlb/mets/news/ex-mets-pitcher-announces-retirement-after-successful-11-year-big-league-career-pat3https://www.si.com/mlb/mets/news/ex-mets-pitcher-announces-retirement-after-successful-11-year-big-league-career-pat3 Later
  25. Pujols went 42-118 at 30 , 37-99 at 31, and even 40- 95 at 35. David Ortiz went 54-137 at 30 and at the age of 40 had 48 doubles to go along with 38-127 .315. And (eyeballing it) he averaged about 30 -100 in the years in between, not counting the COVID year. Yes, Cabrera's production dropped off more, although his age 30,31 and 33 years weren't too bad. But you could attribute it to his late in life weight gain (BR lists him at 267 pounds) But I think Pete's trajectory would follow Albert and David. Just my opinion, based on Mets fandom. Later
