  1. At least he didn't totally suck last night: 4.2 IP 4 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 3 K Later
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: His habit changed when Scott met Trey McLoughlin, a reliever in the Mets system who first became his teammate at High-A Brooklyn. McLoughlin turned Scott on to the Orange Dreamsicle flavor of Reign Total Body Fuel, a pre-workout energy drink that contains, according to its website, 300 milligrams of caffeine. That's the equivalent of about two to three cups of standard drip coffee, or a bottle and a half of the popular energy drink Celsius. Whether he makes the majors this year or not, my adoptee Trey has already made a positive contribution to the team. Later
  3. Edgy MD wrote: Oops indeed, quiz cancelled. I'm dying here. Slowly, but amused nonetheless... He's cancelling a contest because I misremembered a name? I don't find that funny at all. Later
  4. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure who Lou Johnson is. If you mean Lou Thornton, he's not one of our guys. OOPS. Lance Johnson. Still not sure which of the two. Later
  5. Edgy MD wrote: Yes, a player can count as a "product" of more than one institution. Is there one player who went to the two we're missing? The 1988-1992 player? I still don't have the foggiest, but maybe that will help somebody else. Later
  6. IIRC, Lou Johnson went to one of the two Universities of Alabama, but I don't remember whether South or West. That's all I got, y'all. Later
  7. Frayed Knot wrote: And his girl friend is internet star LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne Livy Dunne kindled my interest in women's gymnastics. The funny thing is, the LSU team was on ESPN and Livy wasn't good enough to be a starter for them. She is also the TV spokesperson for Vuori, a brand of workout clothing. Later
  8. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Joins Met greats who've gone on to become Angels like Kirk Niuwenhuis and Hansel Robles There was this young pitcher we gave up in the Leroy Stanton deal for a washed up infielder. Later
  9. I'm still waiting to find out which is the real deal McNeil. Later
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Holy cow! I live in the Philly metro area and I had no idea the Phillies were doing so well. It's comforting to know how well I've been able to tune them out. The Phillie fans haven't been too vocal about their success because they've been too busy eating their young. Later
  11. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I wonder how many fans are still in the ballpark? The ones who still have beer money. Later
  12. Edgy MD wrote: When the Mets win AND the starting pitcher is the one credited with the W, we should all get free pizza. That reminds me of what someone (Ben?) wrote in the prediction thread. (I paraphrase) He predicted no Mets starter would win 10 games this year. It has become a rarity. Later
  13. I commented last year that Buck used to sit batters when it looked like they were starting to get hot. And early this year I posted that I hoped the new manager wouldn't do that. If a batter is in a groove, keep him in there. It isn't as though this is a lefty- lefty thing. Later
  14. After I typed that, I realized I should have modified it with something like "Home grown". I remember stories saying that Mays, Agee and Cleon were from Alabama. Later
  15. The most famous Mets Alabaman I can think of was Cleon Jones. And since he was signed before many of the southern schools were integrated, I'll say he went to Alabama A&M. Later
  16. And U of Alabama was Dave Magadan. Later

  18. =kcmets post_id=154610 time=1715112495 user_id=53] I have to ask, how the funk would you know a guy that had like 20 PA as a Met went to some obscure school in Alabama?
  19. Cedrick Landrum - North Alabama (NOT an oxymoron) Later
  20. Edgy MD wrote: You may have to guess. And also please consider the notion that a player who isn't from Alabama might have (🤯) gone to school there. Also, I bet you know at least two other Mets as being from Alabama. (off the top of my head) Frank Lary and Willie Mays And Lary went to the U of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, which doesn't specifically appear on your list. Later
  21. What was the date we (and he painfully) found out he didn't wear a cup? It made quite an, uh, ... impact on the IGT. (or am I thinking of another player?) Later
  22. =Cowtipper post_id=154508 time=1715036586 user_id=166] Oh, then to replace that we also have Yard Goats
  23. =Cowtipper post_id=154425 time=1714988513 user_id=166] Rumble Ponies
  24. Seeing a Mets pitcher seems to revive Goldschmidt from any funk he happens to be in at the time. Later
  25. 17th in MLB in runs scored, 17th in MLB in OPS. That's consistent with their record. As football coach Bill Parcells said, "You are what your record is". Later
