  1. I tried to get my bridge club to have a mid- season tournament, but the idea got trumped. Later
  2. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: That's not a sustainable setup. I swore Jose Iglesias woulda made the team out of spring training; he's what good teams have -- a competent defensive middle infielder who used to be a starter, won't kill you when a guy needs a day off or has a short term injury. BRING UP IGLESIAS ALREADY,STEARNS!!!!!!11 I agree. I second (third?) the motion. Later
  3. Lucchesi and Vientos have been recalled - Joey to pitch tomorrow. No corresponding moves announced yet. Later
  4. Mark Vientos is being recalled. No other moves announced. Later
  5. Joey Lucchesi will be brought up to start tomorrow because Houser warmed up to come into the game today. Later
  6. The offense is too terrible for a masochist to endure. Later
  7. =Cowtipper post_id=155357 time=1715714797 user_id=166] I still can't imagine they'll be this bad offensively all year long.
  8. I can't watch, so I'm following the box score on Yahoo Sports. Wendle reached on catcher's interference, but it wasn't counted as an at bat.(like a walk) I never knew that. Isn't catcher's interference an error? Later
  9. It is not deja vu all over again. This is not a mirage, boys and girls. The Mets are being no-hit through five innings. Again Later
  10. Well, at least someone can get a leadoff runner home. SPOILER ALERT It wasn't the Mets. Down 0-2. Both runs were walked in. Later
  11. Maybe they think it is 6 PM London time. Later
  12. I'm not sure if it is still physical or mental. I don't think he is confident about his leg yet and not fully using it like he used to. When he feels it it is fully healthy, his leg drive, and velocity, will return. But nobody can predict when (if) this may happen. Later
  13. Garrett Stubbs channeling J.T. Realmuto by driving in a run. Later
  14. =metirish post_id=155162 time=1715629880 user_id=72] Um, what's going on here ?
  15. The Iceman and Godot are going to get here before Matt Allen. Later
  16. Down 0-1. I thought they'd be so frustrated after yesterday's pathetic showing, they'd come out like they were on fire and pile up the runs. I'm not optimistic. Later
  17. =kcmets post_id=155004 time=1715469623 user_id=53] What the heck is intercostal irritation?
  18. Nice collection. Have you ever calculated what percentage of the players who signed minor league cards never made it to the majors? Or are they all major league cards? Later
  19. Some numbers: MLB OPS: .697 - lowest since 1989 (.695) MLB BA: .239 - lowest since 1968 (.237) MLB OBP: .312 - tied for lowest (2022) since 1972 (.311) MLB SLG: .385 - lowest since 1992 (.377) 1968 was the year of the pitcher and that led MLB to lower the mound, so the BA that year isn't shocking. But the other lows are all after that, so what will/can be done? lower it again? Have the pitcher throw underhand? Something else? I believe the launch angle, homer or nothing, swing has hurt not only the batters but the game. Very few players try to "build a run" any more. The excitement is gone and soon, I fear, will the fans. What would you do to reverse the decline? Later
  20. =Centerfield post_id=154961 time=1715444252 user_id=65] Pitching matchup favors the Mets.
  21. It may even start at 25 or 6 to 4. Later
  22. Yes. 4:10 PM start. I hope they can make a game of it. Later
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Starting with his age 34 season in 2018, Charlie Morton has made 30 starts (HOU), 33 starts, 9 starts (pandemic year) both for TBR, and then with the Braves 33 (led the lg), 31, 30. Tonight is his 7th of this year. iow, he's made every single fuckin' start from age 34 thru 40! while pitching to a 3.54 ERA (21% better than lg average). And the Mets look like they've never seen him before. You think they would have learned how to hit him by now. Later
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: While you wait for the game, be sure to listen to the latest episode of "National League Town" as G-Fafif and I discuss my trip to "The Lou". I don't want to sound judgy, but why would anyone want to listen to a podcast about your bathroom activities? I'd tune in to find out if he skips there. (Kids, ask your grandpa) Later
  25. Thank you, Scooby Doo. Later
