  1. I'm real intrigued by moving him to center. It might take some learning on the job but that's what SHaM seasion is for (because the Mets sure as hell don't work out the tough stuff in Spring Training). My god what an unprepared-looking bunch they are.
  2. Well the FHaMs for all they have going for them are a huge disappointment, so let's help em become the SHaMs. As I see it the FHaMs have 5 problems, the solutions aren't all realistic but might be fun to see 1. Defense is poor. --Trade Ramos to a contender, make Nido the starter --Try Rosario in center --make Heck the SS starter...for now --Make Rosario play beardless till he starts making the plays 2. Fundies suck --Fire Mickey, hire Showalter --Blunt Cano's influence with a different veteran "who plays the game the right way," like maybe, Lowrie? 3. Bullpen sucks --"Demote" Diaz till his results improve in noncritical situations, or trade him at a loss -- Conduct a short-term experiment to see whether Fammy improves emotionally by giving him the closer's job back, we're already paying him like one -- Make Gselly the closer, for now -- Make Matz a reliever -- Make Syndergaard the closer 4. Team Going Nowhere in the Standings --Trade Ramos, Frazier, Wheeler, Vargas, Matz, anyone in the bullpen including guys we like like Lugo, try to trade Cano --Listen to offers for Smith, Syndergaard, Zimmo, Rosario --Get back motherfuckers who can hit, starting pitchers, a good catcher if such a thing exists --Find out what's up with Conforto 5. Starters are Underperforming --Trade/redeploy up to 4 of them
  3. I said this in an earlier round but the illustration looks like deGrom's hair and delivery, with Syndergaard's body. Is it supposed to be both of them? Like, I don;t get it. The Darling cover is probably one of SI's only to feature an athlete wearing ROOS
  4. =metirish post_id=15346 time=1562597092 user_id=72] How was it Batty?
  5. From time to time it would have helped this club to have a skipper obsessed with that day's game, though it's not clear how possible that is when the manager willingly or not goes out there with his hands tied behind his back every night "we're only using our closer for the final 3 outs!" until the criticism arrives and it suddenly becomes "now let me demonstrate how we'll use our closer for MORE than 3 outs. Just watch!!" and then... I think generally the Mets given their state are better off with a manager who's good with the media vs. one who's not, and I'd hate if there was a compromise there. A big part of the job is to sell the narrative and explain away the crises when need be and Mickey sucks at that and it doesn't sound like Girardi likes that part of the job. Brodie Press Conference scheduled in Miami Friday.
  6. You can't be serious, Rogers. They have these things called cellphones today.

  8. Ok fellas strap on your rally jocks.
  9. We really need Fraze to come through here
  10. Frayed Knot wrote: Two nights in a row with slow covering pitchers at 1st Speaking of arriving late at first base, not sure how Frazier got thrown out last time.
  11. Aka "rkSlow" looolllloll. Bestowing his enemies with nicknames normal people would consider not clever enough was in it's own way, genius
  12. I'da probably been nice to Brodie too. But I'd also be trying to subtly interrogate him. So, Brodie, when Fred said "trade for Cano," you were on board immediately?

No fights that I saw Stadium was packed, which was nice to see, and I'd guess a 60-40 Met crowd. MFY fans weren't that obnoxious. There were some MFY chants early but more typical was the family of 8 MFYer in the row in front of us who basically sat there talking among themselves with body langauge insinuating we were too loud; and this chick seated at the end of the row by herself who literally took selfies the entire game. After a couple of innings we started shooting her shooting herself. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48190809376_b2cb533186_k.jpg> Couple of loudmouths on the slow walk down the stairs loudly suggesting this was the highlight of the year for the Mets. He was badly hurting inside.
  14. we gotta get metsc over here. He could be a knucklehead but there was a purity to it, his feuds with "Rich" were awesome fun
  15. Vic Sage wrote: how effective can he be, considering his first inning is always his worst? I thought about that too. But as right as it is to "blame the bullpen" on taking us out of this race the fact that Matz crapped all over the mound in four of his last six starts is an element all on its own and a contributor to the pen strain. It was this or a Bobby Jones style visit to Syracuse afaic
  16. Tucks in his jersey, kinda dorky. The "pinman" was up in our section last night (508). I'm cool with the 7Line though I'm pretty sure there's a douche/Long island Trash element to it. I don't know the details but pretty sure I witnessed some reprehensible sexist online behavior by some dumb individuals who feel strengthened by their association with it; there's a gross calendar featuring skanky Long Island chix. I'm also not too impressed with the gear they sell, I like some of it but most not for me and of course the origin story is riddled with conflict, gathering support on SELL THE TEAM NOW then pivoting to a support org.
  17. I've been informed!! Will fix shortly...
  18. Terrific game. Until Conforto buttfucked Britton on the first pitch he was about the worst player in the world. On both of JDDs hits we sat there for it seemed like forever waiting to see whether they carried or drifted enough. Very exciting moments both. It was very warm but also very breezy. Also super humid. I thought for example Gtegorius had an easy HR on the one he drove to CF. I like how we rode Wheels so hard after the somewhat difficult start he had. Gutsy performance even if he screwed up sacbunts twice and didn't cover the bag like he should. Rosario had a nice game. Tuesday Night Mets Club is a very respectable 4-1, I think now. The crowd wasn't "up" really ever till the 8th even though it was a great game. No fights that I saw
  19. Mickey just said Matz is a bullpenner till the All-Star break and maybe also after that. About time.
