  1. Ali Sanchez is urinating on the Mets, wearing 41, ripping a double
  2. I also like Yamamoto's glove. Reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream Look at that thing. Like an oven mitt
  3. Whoa check out Mazeika's hip look. I think I bought a kale pop from him on Berry street the other day
  4. Wild pitch ✓ NeATo!!!!
  5. And that's their good points. My igts also suck
  6. Maybe they shoulda ph smith for Lindor
  7. Bases loaded for James McCann. Even-money he grounds into a triple play
  8. Lineup is for the lefty obvs. First quattlebomber is Lindor. WRITE IT DOWN
  9. Stroman opposes Kwang Hyun Kim, a 32-year-old lefty and former Korean league cy young equivalent winner. He did very well last year but defied the stats -- doesn't strike out guys, low babip. The Cheetos may be rained out tonight but if not it's possible I won't be around to start the game 2 sweep thread. Keep that in mind as Operation Quattlebomb Margarita goes into play
  10. Loyalty to the crew, and maybe also the emotions of his players who probably don't really know what is best for them
  11. Sherman does some reporting and you start to understand things. did anyone share this yet? https://nypost.com/2021/05/04/inside-mets-chili-davis-firing-and-the-origin-of-donnie-stevenson/https://nypost.com/2021/05/04/inside-mets-chili-davis-firing-and-the-origin-of-donnie-stevenson/ Scott had observed hitting meetings — to Davis' annoyance, a source said — and what emerged in the front office's belief was a lack of individualized plans, mechanical adjustments and authoritative instruction in the meetings. Scott had been meeting with his subordinates about making a change. Alderson had been thinking similarly. Then after last Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Red Sox in which the Mets had two hits, 15 strikeouts and were at one run in 18 innings with one ineffective, indecisive at-bat after another against Boston, the duo met and found themselves in unison. Manager Luis Rojas was not in simpatico. But he was outnumbered and outranked. Davis had lost hitting coach jobs with the Red Sox (where Scott worked) and the Cubs because of the old/new conflict. Scott wanted to see if Davis had grown to embrace modern devices/strategies. So, he attended some hitting meetings — think a principal observing a teacher in a classroom. Scott did not see enough. Modern players have grown hungry for individual mechanical and statistical analyses, and many players seemed to be gravitating toward the analysts for help rather than the hitting coach.
  12. And I cried watching Alonso being the worst hitter in the league last year but I got over it
  13. Yeah I agree with those. There's also adjusting to win with the talent of the team --and the meeting the moments over the course of a long season. This might be the most difficult part and would seem to demand experience: So far Rojas is shitty at this (the team never really pulled out of its ruts last last) but if he's a good manager, those struggles are in the ol' spank-bank and the experience will reveal itself. Really, all I ask is that the manager 1-run a "0" or better +/- rating on games blown/won by out-strategizing the other manager. 2-Embody the role of being the Mets' manager. Act like that means something! 3-Get on the good side of the press while doing both things above
  14. Sure seems like he'd be next to pay the price should things not turn around. I dunno if that makes his whacking any more likely, but you know. there are very few jobs like this in the world, it seems like to not have the absolute best guy there is a terrible waste.
  15. Like I noted above I was shocked that nobody until Lennon asked about Donnie -- even he didn't ask "What's so great about Quatllebaum?" I agree the Mets under Rojas seem determined to make the same mistakes over and over, and a change will probably be good. All the lip service to Chili, and the guy worked remotely last year. Obviously Lindor looks awful and desperately needs something. Ceetar will disagree with this but this is also a situation where the reduced access to these guys and manipulative press approach really hurts us fans.
  16. Not impressed with the journos softball questions. Took all the time until Lennon got on to get an interesting question
  17. Donnie promoted?
  18. I'm actually not wearing a hat. I'm a man without a hat
  19. Lindor just pulled up Waze for directions to first base. Oh!
