1. This guy has a career ERA of 81.00 over 2 appearances including his MLB debut last year where he surrendered 4 home runs to the Cubs. He gives up a HR every 11 pitches!
2. Accidentally realized he was potentially valuable as an emergency roster-add in the CPF Fantasy League (which thanks on part to him, I'm fucking dominating). I imagine Zack Scott had the same experience. Odd batting stance where he leaned back. Really stupid uniform number of 60.
3. Chad ochoseis wrote: Fifteen different pouty expressions after giving up five runs in the third. He deserves a whole documentary I Gotta Be Better Than This: The Steven Matz Story
4. solid way to TCB on an away-game/rubber-game/getaway-day-businessmans-special (AGRGGADBS). I don't how many of these we've lost in recent years but I'd be only mildly surprised were I to learn that it wasn't every goddamned one of them.
5. AON, I made shrimp risotto for the first time ever last night, and it came out EXCELLENT. It's not hard do do or anything.
6. 5-0 hasn't really been a safe place for the Mets lately. Was hoping they'd cash in a few more.
7. Bad night though considering we had no chance and still had a chance, but didn't take the chance. Pennant winners win that game
8. The envelopes were actually the coolest things since most had logo letterhead. The Mets and Red Sox though had very businesslike stationary, you'd never know who sent you George Scott and Butch Hobson photos from the envelope, it was just an address iirc
9. Yes. I still have that stuff somewhere. I even saved the envelopes. As I recall it I heard about how to do it from a classmate, that's why I remember 4th grade. If I'm not mistaken we found the addresses in a school library reference book, proving that libraries could be cool
10. Aristophanes....
11. When I was in 4th grade I wrote letters to all the MLB teams seeking autographs and stuff. My Twins were Rod Carew...and Geoff (I pronounced it, Gee-off) Zahn because his name seemed so exotic
12. He was definitely white, had the farmers tan and what looked like on old-school generic canned beer
