1. BTW, Amazin Finishes: 2019 reminds me of how much I've practically forgotten since the pandemic, like CarlosGomez, Joe Panik and Walker Lockett being Mets, and that Mickey Calloway had one good stretch as manager
2. Trot Nixon it is. One guy left. 4th in NL ROY in 1999. 2 seasons (really 1.5) in Queens, but you'd remember him
3. Soup's on, holy shit
4. I think--but am not sure-- we got Angel Berroa when we traded Francouer
5. correctamundo. Wilson finished 2nd to Scott Williamson, whoever the hell he is. Looking for 2 more. One we will remember was a Met (more than a season or 2 in blue/orange and the 4th finisher in NL voting that year), and one we may not (short visit in 1 Met season and the 9th finisher in AL ROY.
6. Had I fielded this question I'd try to prove how smart I was and guess Angel Berroa but yes, Beltran is the one
7. McEwing is correct (finished 5th with 3 pts) and sure guess anything. The question is all the vote-getters in 1999 AL and NL ROY races that were Mets at one point. There are five them, including an AL winner. McEwing is one.
8. We actually did a rent through Amazon. I gave it a 7 because the performances were good, the music made me take notice, and it was unique, but to me, the great ambition fell a little short of a completely satisfying execution. Worth seeing/listening to.
9. I can't even remember Scott Williamson at all, beyond that his name sounds familiar enough to have been one of those relievers the Mets never had. Surely I'd have trouble remembering Mike DeJean or David Weathers or Hunter Strickland were they not ever Mets. So I looked it up ... and let's play another Benevolent Hijack Kwiz In 1999, the year Scott Williamson won the NL Rookie of the Year, three of the five guys to finish behind Williamson in NL ROY Voting all spent part of their careers in the Mets org. Name them Bonus: There were 9 ROY vote-getters in the AL that year, and 2 of them played for the Mets, including the winner. Name them.
10. You never know what you're going to get with Hunter Greene. He could easily whiff 15 and throw a 2 hitter; or give up 7 runs in 2 1/3.
11. Wow!! (I mean, Hey!) being it's Rock nRoll Part 2
12. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Neglected to promptly update this week's edition of the Luis Castillo Watch but on Wednesday he whiffed 11 in 6 Innings in a win over the Cubs. Mets "looking" at him, says Jon Heyman. Thanks Jon they should probably know what he looks like by now. Was a lot of coveting of Castillo on the recent episode of Mets On Tap, fwiw. Keep in mind it was yes, Luis Castillo behind that victory over ATL yesterday (7 Innings, 1 ER, 6 K) and that means we won't face him this week, so it's like HE'S ALREADY ON THE METS.
13. Yeah, I have a sub-25-mike bike loop built around visiting both parks starting and ending at my home
14. At a condemned housing project outside Paris, a threadbare but enterprising teen turns squatting into fantastical hijinks.

16. This is a good moment for the 1st McCann Homer, just saying
17. Getting Marte very smart-ay
18. If nothing else encouraged by Dom off the center field wall on the fly off the closer yesterday, in the starting lineup today (I actually don't know if whoever was pitching in the 9th was the closer but WHATEVER)
