  1. Three outs away for first 3 game road win streak against the same team since last May's Giant series. First sweep since a 2 game series in Atlanta in May. First 3 game sweep since the Brewers in early September of 2008!
  2. Hey, that's AL baseball for ya!
  3. The area just outside the Eutaw Street (pronounced: Utah) entrance is an open plaza where there's room to mill around and/or meet folks prior to going into the stadium. It's at the corner of Eutaw & Camden which is behind the OF side of the stadium and right about where the Camden Station light-rail stop is. There's a couple of mini-landmarks out on the plaza including a small statue of somebody (I forget who) and also stone markers - maybe 3 - 4 ft high - representing retired Orioles numbers. Or one can enter the stadium grounds through the Eutaw Street gate at which point Eutaw Street becomes a long pedestrian walkway that runs from approx straight-away CF towards the RF corner between the back of the OF seats/standing area and the large warehouse-looking thing you see on TV that's beyond the RF seats and is occasionally reachable by a strong LH stroke. The long building actually is an old RR warehouse (hence the name: Camden Yards) that the O's converted into their offices and what-not. On the ground floor there's a series of bars, eats & souvenir shops that are open to the public, and even a small museum dedicated to the fact that it was supposedly at this location where George Herman Ruth Sr. lived above the bar he ran and raised George Jr. until the tyke became too incorrigible and had to be shipped off to reform school. Boog's Bar-B-Que is out there too and big ol' Boog himself is often manning the grill and just being Boog. Hmmmm. Anyone remember if there was a big to do about the Orioles doing that for a guy that never played for the St Louis/Browns/Baltimore Orioles franchise? (Minor league O's do not count) the way it was, and still is in some corners, with the Robinson Rotunda here? Even if someone wants to make the case that the Robinson thing is much more extensive and in-your-face than anything the O's and Baltimore (and that includes the birthplace museum not too far from the ballpark) have done with their celebration of Ruth, the fact is that there is a precedent of a team honoring someone who never played a game for them, and in this case died before the franchise was re-located there.
  4. Alright, now lets hurry up and get this sucker in.

Now we got a Hawkeye, it seems. I'm okay with the choice. But no Doc Pym/Ant-Man/Giant-Man? No Wasp? What gives? From what I've heard Nathan Fillion is reportedly tabbed to be Hank when Ant-Man comes out in 2012, shortly (ummm, no pun intended) before Avengers comes out. No clue whom is to be Janet. And no clue if the marital abuse is to be a focus of the film!

  7. You got Dolphin Face and Franco flipped. Forget who the two in the middle are. Pretty sure the guy in the middle is Turk.
  8. Ten years burning down that road... From last night's "gathering" of members of the 2000 Mets before the game

Benjamin Grimm wrote: before it develops into something like the Mackey Sasser situation I would think that good writing would require a bit of an explanation about the "Mackey Sasser" situation. I'm sure a lot of today's fans don't have any clue about the problems of an obscure player from two decades ago. Getting the yips on the mound has been called "Steve Blass Disease" for even longer. Though I see the point about quickly explaining the case that you refer to in a story.
  10. I so want to cut and paste the entire lyrics of Van Lingle Mungo.

There is no timetable for his return. I think you need to have a turn to have a return. Well, THAT was money well spent by the Mets. Why Omar and various placed medical staff members still have a job after this I don't know.

  13. Ah never mind, thought the rumblings over the winter were coming to pass rather than rumblings.
  14. Psst...Joe Morgan no longer works for ESPN...
  15. STOP TALKING ABOUT 7/4/1985 IN ATLANTA!
  16. KRod better not pull his "I JUST WON GAME 7 OF THE WORLD SERIES" act this inning. This game ain't worth the antics.
  17. I might kill McCarver for that "Mets hold the record for runs scored in the 19th" remark.
