  1. Players left from the 2015 postseason to play a game for the Mets this season?
  2. At the risk of opening myself up to more “you’re a YLDB” quips... D’OH! That’s a pretty big one to miss!
  3. I imagine you aren’t counting Frick Award winner Red Barber. Pitcher Red Faber is the only one coming to mind.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: I personally could go for a glorified Mackey Sasser. I peg you more of the type that would want a glorified Stearns/Grote with more pop.
  5. Yeah, the anti-Piazza sentiment was often on the WFAN airwaves or on the proto MOFOs of the day. The one negative comment that I remember the most was an FAN caller referring to him as “a glorified Mackey Sasser!” ROTFPMPLOL
  6. You can call traded two weeks after being acquired an unofficial DFA’ing
  7. If someone is more coordinated with GIF making, here is the footage. The book is not in front of me to check, but I have to assume its the pitch being thrown and the instant of contact. [youtube:2oe9sdck]BSixnSuuvNA[/youtube:2oe9sdck]
  8. Centerfield wrote: It occurs to me that Matt Harvey may be the first True Yankee before ever playing for the Yankees. LOL! Actually Rich Gossage and Babe Ruth himself come to mind!
  9. cooby wrote: I wonder if the '78 one was a play that was long remembered, but not any more Considering research claims the Cubbie in question scored, I doubt it.
  10. Off field issues, probably Hernandez for Allen?

Would help if he wasn't a dick. Also helps if his career totals wound up on the Probably should add Pedro on there/Spahn/Seaver level of iconic pitcherz
  13. FWIW, Doc’s career trajectory was ruined just as much by arm injuries as his personal demon issues had. But Doc was on the right trajectory for that “guy who will replace Seaver.” Blazing hot start, early championship with a second NL East crown. Pretty amazing that he still put in a respectable MLB career, aside from the Skank Stank years, after all the issues since the end of the 1980s.
  14. Considering Seaver and some guy named Spahn are neck and neck for greatest pitcher to ever throw an MLB game pitch for the Mets, the heights of the second or third tier HOF guys (Pedro, Ryan, Glavine) seems more of a probable attainment.
  15. Mullin over an average cover of recent times.
  16. Sorry Hubie, but the stars of the ‘88 Mets outweigh you!
  17. Still hard not to go with The Franchise’s lone solo cover.
  18. Mullin-ized Hodges over 50 years of covers.
  19. FYI, the work that the 1987 cover took parts of:

Doubtful, there are plenty that still harbor ill will towards the black jerseys, despite early success with 1999 and 2000, as well as 2006.
  21. Going with the simplistic style and elegant script of 1986.
  22. I'm going with the Mullin here. Not much to say about Granderson and Wright.
  23. Its a shame it wasn’t until 1977 that the Mets swapped covers when the Revised version came out (next year would be jarring looking at Fregosi on the cover during the pennant run when he was gone by early July) because a Mays cover riding the year out would have been sweet.
  24. Sweet full bleed color action shots > financial prospectus cover.
  25. FWIW, that year did feature a Stadium Giveaway set of Lenticular cards. I forget the sponsor but it was a set of 4; Ordonez fielding, Franco pitching, Johnson stealing a base, and Hundley hitting (different AB than the yearbook cover “card”).
