  1. Now that MLB has every team playing each other, it's long past time to dump the extra “natural rivalry” series games. The Mets don't need to play extra games against the Yankees, and the…checks notes…Pirates/Tigers, Rockies/Astros, Padres/Mariners, and Phillies/Blue Jays don't need it either.
  2. Not yet. That's…a choice. Apparently his explanation was that “he had a responsibility” to the team. Not the Cardinals, of course. No responsibility to that team, apparently.
  3. Good thing pop flies elsewhere are homers at this ballpark?
  4. =Fman99 post_id=104994 time=1661193739 user_id=86] I don't like Segura but it's because he continues to get big hits against the Mets. Otherwise, no issue with a guy celebrating a late go ahead HR. They should be excited, they're major league baseball players for fuck's sake.
  5. Mets are a good offensive team. Just keep chipping away.
  6. Got a lot of attention for walk-off fielders' choices in 2021, but his biggest moment probably was a big go-ahead homer against the Mariners in May this year.
  7. Baty needs to be more patient.
  8. (In fairness the Mets were fine having Jose Reyes around following his domestic violence suspension).
  9. Buck is a good manager generally, but I just can't see how the best LH pinch hitter sits on the bench with the game on the line.
  10. I think I'd use Vogelbach for Baty. There's still Naquin for McCann if it gets there.
  11. Not pinch hitting Vogelbach here is a choice.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: Nuthins' going right. Or left as Canha, who I heart, half-assed the play and it results in another run. It should have been a single. Unbelievable to not give an error to Canha there.
  13. Interesting choice going with the 27th man here in the bottom of the 8th when the Mets need to have a scoreless inning to stay in the game.
  14. Good play. Very smart by Lindor to go home to ensure the run didn't score. But Perez: don't argue with the umpire. Just go over and tag him again!
  15. For purposes of playoff matchups, that would put the Padres up against the NL Central champ, with the winner of that round facing the Mets. Mets' preferred opponents, ranked (??): MIL STL SD PHI ATL LA
  16. =bmfc1 post_id=104656 time=1660963105 user_id=73]I wrote something that was factually inaccurate in my thread starter for last night's game which tells me that either you are too polite to correct me, and we know that's not true, or you don't read the comments.
  17. =bmfc1 post_id=104587 time=1660928335 user_id=73]Pete doesn't seem to hit HRs anymore
  18. Also, Atlanta finally has to play some tougher teams (other than the Mets). They have Houston this weekend and St. Louis next weekend. No more non-stop Miami/Washington
  19. Marcell Ozuna of the Braves (who didn't play this last series) was arrested for DUI last night. Same guy who served a suspension last year for violating the domestic violence policy.
  20. Big missed opportunity to not clinch the season series with a win tonight. It'd be a lot more comfortable to own that tiebreak.
  21. A win tomorrow drops the magic number by three because it clinches the season series, and in the event of a tie in the standings, Mets get the division.
  22. We skip 41. Magic number is 40 (goes down 2 with a win over the Braves).
  23. Walker Buehler of the Dodgers is having season-ending elbow surgery. Of course, since he last pitched, the Dodgers have gone 42-13…
  24. Edgy MD wrote: I disagree that signing players to expensive longterm deals has no chance of working out, or practically none. “Working out” is doing a lot of work in that argument though. What is does it mean to “work out?” There are plenty of long term contracts that could be recast as paying extra for prime years and zero for later years. If thought of in that fashion, they're quite a bit more palatable.
  25. Textbook example of Rob Manfred ruining baseball. Game decided without a batter reaching base in extra innings. Abysmal and offensive.
