Hernandez, Reyes, and Franco all giving Delgado a lot of sh*t for drawing two pickoff throws from Capuano. Tom McCarthy references Retrosheet on the broadcast when the dig up the details of Delgado's last SB (April 2002, on a double steal with Mondesi that set up a 12-11 win).

    Nady!

Friend called me from Shea at about 7, reported deep lines at the ticket windows. 11 pitches, 10 were strikes for Glavine in 1st inning, with 2 Ks. NICE. EDIT: correcting pitch total

First pitch now set for 8:40 EDT.

Eddie Coleman: "How much grief did you take when you got back to the dugout after your 2-run single?" Darren Oliver: "No grief. These guys know, I can hit a little bit. Stats don't lie. Check the books."

My amateur meteorlogist skills tell me that they'll play, but to expect a delay. I think the rain may stop enough to start the game, although a delay later on isn't out of the question. Some light drizzle during the game certainly a possibility too.

Very nice TransMonk, many thanks. Will be interesting to get a first look at Prince. From what I've read, he's got a chance to be a big star if he can keep the weight under control.

I'd do Diaz to Left, Chavez to Center, Franco to 1st, Woodward to 3rd, Hernandez to 2nd.
  12. Gwreck
I don't think we have enough subs to do that. Can LoDuca play 3rd?

Time to clear the bench -- get Floyd, Delgado, Beltran out of the game.

There is the Heilman factor to consider and his effectiveness in getting LHers out. I thought part of Oliver's role in the pen was to be the long man too...4 inning save here to keep rest of bullpen rested wouldn't be the worst thing in the world...

I think you flip Bradford and Oliver, Heilman and Sanchez. I agree with DD, I think smart move is to try to get a few innings from Oliver. Unless it's deemed Julio time...

Ok, so Beltran was pissed at the time. It was still an exaggeration. For what it's worth, going on the road and raking the last couple of games probably *is* somewhat relaxing.

The record for Kabooms in a game is 7, which happened last year vs. Philly. Edit: here's the details. http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=6912

99 on the fastball to Soriano.

  22. Gwreck
    Sandman time.
  23. Gwreck
Double switch would have compromised the defense (putting either Woodward or Valentin at 2B).
  24. Gwreck
DP gets Pedro an additional inning? EDIT: nope, decoy move to warm-up Heilman more.
  25. Gwreck
Heilman warming up, speculation on radio is Heilman 8th, Sanchez 9th or Heilman for 2 innings.
