  1. Ah, it's not a competition. The mods can delete whichever.

  4. I'm guessing there's also only one Lynn.
  5. Paging offense.....please pick up the white courtesy phone. Thank you for your cooperation and please FUCKING HIT tomorrow.

  7. I was less worried about the performance -- sometimes it gets away, there's only one Mariano Rivera, etc. -- than I was about bullpen management. Using Feliciano for John Rodriguez? Seems kinda unnecessary, especially when Bradford was going great. Willie played like it was a 9 inning game, which is great, but I don't think he had much saved for extras, and it's only Game 2 of 5 games in a row. It was nice meeting many of you prior to the game. PS. Happy Birthday Duaner.
  8. Hasn't been announced yet but you can also expect Duncan in for Wilson in left.
  9. I'm not so sure the second was necessarily a big mistake but rather the result of unfortunate circumstance.

There was no "roll call" at Shea Stadium last night (at least not from 7:30 until the end of the game). There was some chanting of individual players names (ie. "En-dy Cha-vez" when they were intentionally walking Wright in front of him) and the "Paul Lo-Duca" chants that seem to be at every game, but there was nothing done that remotely approached what's done at the Yankee games (ie. all the players, at the same time, etc). I'm in total agreement on the Sweet Caroline thing too, but this seems to be a dead horse. As for Enter Sandman, I guess if you tell a blatant lie and repeat it frequently people take it as truth. If anything, Rivera stole Wagnerr's tradition.
  11. That 3.1 inning stint against the Phillies wasn't a start. The numbers are promising I think for him as a starter but I'm still down with keeping him in the 'pen. Worth reevaluating next ST.

  14. It's $10 but I think it's worth it as a souvenier. Didn't read the Reyes/Wright article yet but it was written by Alan Schwartz (ESPN, NY Times, Mets fan) so I'm sure it'll be quality stuff. Interesting that they clearly designed the cover ahead of time -- pics of the Mets, DBacks, Phillies, Cards, Marlins, Astros, Pads, Dodgers, each with a pic of their last NL Championship (except the Phillies one is strangely from 1980). Coupla articles about the '86 LCSes too.
  15. Wagner was shown at 97 on the Shea scoreboard, which is pretty consistent through the season. Haven't seen him top 97 anytime this year at Shea, and certainly not tonight.
  16. Lessee... Pregame intros included players not on the roster (DiFelice and Ring) as well as El Duque, Pedro (arm in a sling, but huge ovation) and Duaner (also a really nice ovation). Anthem was Aaron Neville, and he kinda sucked. Darryl threw out the first pitch to a huge (but not as loud as I'd expected) hand. Pregame moment of silence for both Lidle and Buck O'Neill. Best sign of the game: "Cardinals...Tastes Just Like Chicken." Trump was shown on the "Kiss Cam" and was booed heavily. Celebs spotted in the seats added near the on-deck circle: Tim Robbins (keeping score! -- had some of his kids but Susan wasn't there), also Matt Dillon. For the "Meet the Mets singalong" they had nice clips of Howie and Ed, Gary C., and the Mets (post-NLDS celenbration) all singing. Mota was indeed warming in the 7th and I guess Willie figured him for the 1 inning only, so may as well use him if he was already warm. If god forbid the Cardinals had tied, they could use Aaron for the 9th/10th or something like that. When Mota was pitching to Wilson they got Bradford up in a HURRY. He woulda faced Pujols with the 2 men on if it had been necessary. The crowd was cheering hard for a LONG time after the HR (was prolonged by a beach ball going onto the field from the bleachers) but no curtain call for Beltran. Rain seemed ominous but was barely a drizzle. Was a bit chilly though with the wind, bundle up for tomorrow night if you're headed out to the park. Beltran's homer hit, I think, between the 8 and 9 on the inning-by-inning linescore on the scoreboard. Highest indeed I think anyone's gotten since the Vaughn shot in '02. Let's go Mets!

  18. I called again, this time asking for media relations and trying to give the guy on the phone the impression I was calling from a media outlet. He as much as confirmed that the delay was due to the projected snow in Detroit. Said it would be 4 or 8, still no word on when it would be announced. Called again, purporting to be an angry ticketholder (which I am), no new information, but made the guy try to find out if refunding tickets was an option. After 3 minutes on hold, hung up, tired of waiting. I encourage everyone to keep calling, even if they're giving you the same info over and over.
  19. I think the calls to MLB are being directed to "Vinny" at Extension 7878. At least, that's what he told me. He tried to get out of giving me his name or extension when I called this most recent time but that's the info that I got. I'm going to keep calling. I think I may try asking for Media Relations when I reach the MLB switchboard again.

  23. ="cooby"]Ya gotta call FOX, I'm telling ya Unpractical -- they're neither accountable nor responsible. True, it may be their fault in theory, but MLB holds all responsiblity here.
