  1. I wonder if a DL stint is in order to get Pelfrey on the roster. Otherwise, Joe Smith has to go down, or we play a man short on the bench. I don't really like either of those two options.

Just me, but the Cardinals 2007 seems a lot more comparable to the Mets '74 or '01, in terms of the not-that-great team playing over their heads, making it far in the postseason, etc.
  3. Green 2.5 Wagner 2 Feliciano 2 Sosa 2 Heilman 1 Smith .5

Dodgers had 5 (Garner, Manuel, Randolph, Sciosia, Washington). Every team has 1 except FLA, PHI and ARZ.
  6. Maine 4.5 Valentin 2 Easley 1.25 Reyes 1.25 Gomez 1
  7. I was being mostly facetious, as I'm sure you understood. I can't fathom where you got the whole "pathological" bit from. If anything, I'd go with the "clueless" thing -- I'm willing to consider that he just threw a name out there because he'd never really thought about it.
  8. Put it in the books! Sweep.
  9. Very happy to be bumping this back up.
  10. I don't think they'd make a roster move if it was a one-day suspension. Multiple days, probably.
  11. Some misc. notes from the SNY broadcast: Delgado asked for the day off; Franco is unavailable with a sore knee, hence Green at 1st and Easley in right. With the LoDuca ejection last night and the need to pinch-run for Castro, the question of the emergency catcher came up. Willie was asked and said that it would probably be Valentin. Clueless or lying? You decide. In all seriousness, I would think it would be Gotay. He (and Newhan, when Newhan was here) would often warm up the pitcher between innings.
  12. I woulda expected to see Derek Bell on that list.
  13. Gotay is actually out of options, but I still think he gets demoted, unless Willie is OK with using Valentin/Gotay/Easley in the OF as necessary, and demoting Ledee. Your other Met players with options are Joe Smith and Carlos Gomez.
  14. This thing was buried on Page 8! Not good. Triple Happiness 2007 #14 Mets 1, Oakland 0 Detroit 2, Atlanta 1 San Francisco 6, MFYs 5.
  15. Saturday, June 23: Ricky Ledee thrown out at home by Shannon Stewart, trying to score from second a Carlos Beltran single to left. 0-0 score at the time, 3rd out of the inning.
  16. Roster move coming down the line shortly (Ruben back to AAA?) as Pelfrey will probably get the extra start with the Doubleheader this Friday in Philadelphia.

  21. Unfortunately, there's probably about a 0% chance Griffey waives the no-trade to play in NY.
  22. Not so fast. Bradley-to-Royals deal Voided
