  1. Cubs 1 - Brewers 0, top 3. Marlins 5 - Astros 0, bottom 7.
  2. Hey, look....baserunners!
  3. You know, Steve's not 100% wrong on that. Cohen has indeed gone downhill since the move to TV. That being said, any chance for a reasoned analysis of why goes out the door once the nonsense about having no journalistic integrity/verbal fellatio/etc. is put into play. You could make your point so much more effectively.
  4. Ok, fair point. Things seem a little more normal if you include their middle names too: Dillon James (17) - boy Hutton Scott (15) - boy Timoney Jennifer (13) - girl Duffy Margaret (10) - girl McCabe Joseph (5) - boy Grady Adele (4) - girl

  7. Hahn got 3 of 6 correct.
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: Kind of like this year. Well, except for that the biggest lead either team has had this year since the all-star break is what, 3 games?
  9. Moyer and his wife Karen have 6 kids, according to his Phillies player bio. Dillon (17) Hutton (15) Timoney (13) Duffy (10) McCabe (5) Grady (4)
  10. We're going to face that Atlanta pitcher (I believe it's James Parr) on Sunday.
  11. MLB.com's standings lie, in that case. They have the WC (and division) elimination numbers listed as 4.
  12. Updated with the Cubs, now that we know their rotation after their rescheduled games: at WAS Tue Sep 16 - Pelfrey v. Odalis Perez Wed Sep 17 - Brandon Knight v. Shairon Martis Thu Sep 18 - Santana v. Tim Redding at ATL Fri Sep 19 - Perez v. Jo-Jo Reyes Sat Sep 20 - Martinez v. Jorge Campillo Sun Sep 21 - Pelfrey v. James Parr vs CHC Mon Sep 22 - Jon Niese v. Jason Marquis Tue Sep 23 - Santana v. Rich Harden Wed Sep 247 - Perez v. Carlos Zambrano Thu Sep 25 - Martinez v. Ted Lilly
  13. Boston beats up on the Devil Rays to tie for the AL East lead, and the number drops again, to 4.
  14. Reyes .5 Parnell .5 Rincon .5 Murphy .25
  15. Wow. Nice job swinging 2-0 there buddy.

  17. No, Reyes had not been used. With Church up with one out and two runners on, we had the following hitters due up against lefty Mike Gonzalez: Church (L) Castillo (S) Schneider ® Pitcher's Spot On the bench, we had: Tatis ® Evans ® Castro ® Cancel ® Molina ® Martinez ® A Reyes (S) plus Easley (unavailable). I thought Tatis was the right choice for Church's spot, but clearly it should have been either Evans or Castro in Castillo's spot.

  19. soupcan wrote: One thing about the CPF as opposed to other online forums is that I think that those of us who frequent this place consider ourselves to be a 'more mature' breed of fan. Just plain old smarter, too.
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Knight, huh? My money would have been on Figueroa. So says Adam Rubin's blog.
  21. Knight to go on Wednesday. No word on the Atlanta series yet. The doubleheader allows them to keep Niese "on schedule" and pitch against Atlanta again, or to push him back to face the Cubs. My guess is that they do the latter. at WAS Mon Sep 15 - Martinez v. John Lannan Tue Sep 16 - Pelfrey v. Odalis Perez Wed Sep 17 - Brandon Knight v. Shairon Martis Thu Sep 18 - Santana v. 22. Benjamin Grimm wrote: So even though the Mets, at the moment, anyway, don't look too likely to outplay the hot Phillies the rest of the way Eh. "Hot" is as good as tomorrow's opponent. The Mets play the Nationals, from whom they've taken the last 5 games from, and are 10-4 against this year. I see them easily picking up anywhere from .5 to 1.5 games in the first half of this week alone.
  23. If you guys have any good suggestions, please let me know. I hear that finding teams in other sports is a good distraction from the bad years but that doesn't work for me.
  24. Explain, please. I was under the impression that Cubs losing put the Mets in position to win 3 of 4/sweep the series next week against the Cubs and possibly get best record in the NL.
  25. Hey, looks like I can't count. If they are tied after head-to-head record, the next tiebreaker is record against division opponents.
