  1. Yeah, I guess it's really Green + Parnell vs. Heilman + Sanchez. I think the '09 version is still better.
  2. Where does Reed rank in runs created per game? Below Tatis? I've felt he deserves more PT than he gets (if only that he's the best defensive outfielder on the team right now) but I don't think we've seen enough to know if he can actually hit.
  3. I'd also suggest Green and Stokes (full year) have been better than the Heilman/Sanchez combo of last year.
  4. Suit: Yankees force fans to sit for 'God Bless America' THE ASSOCIATED PRESS 2:21 PM EDT, April 15, 2009 A baseball fan says he was ejected from Yankee Stadium for leaving his seat to use the bathroom while "God Bless America" played. Bradford Campeau-Laurion filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against New York City and the Yankees. The lawsuit contends he was made a victim of political and religious discrimination on Aug. 26. It says two police officers who ejected him were enforcing a Yankees policy that keeps spectators in their seats during the song. A spokeswoman says the city law office has no immediate comment. A Yankees representative did not immediately return a call This case settled: NYC paid out $10,000 to the plaintiff and $12,000 to the ACLU for plaintiff's attorney's fees. Yankees signed a stipulation and order indicating they have no policy and no intention of instituting a policy for God Bless America re: movement of fans in the stadium that does not apply during the rest of the game.
  5. Yeah, I don't know how shocked I should be. (See above).
  6. That's just the thing. The coaches *aren't* doing enough. Rubin seemed to agree with Emanski on that. Edit: Am I reading that right? You would be shocked at the amount of coaching that goes on in the early afternoons given how they look. Shocked at how little is going on, given how bad they look? Or shocked at how much goes on and how little they improve?
  7. Tom Emanski had some thoughts as well.
  8. I'd drop Cora down as well. I'd give F. Rodriguez a higher grade, maybe an A- if not a solid A.
  9. I was at MFY Stadium III on Saturday. They mixed some of the existing footage with numerous MFY players reading the speech. The guy who came up with the idea was in the house and recognized several times. Of course, his Baltimore Orioles fandom was mentioned, yet he was wearing a MFY jersey. Whatever. He bravely rose from his wheelchair to throw out the first pitch.
  10. Also Santana and Rodriguez, who were voted in by the players.

    Ollie

="Nymr83":280oer44]i have no faith in oliver perez, but even if he comes back and pitches well its not going to solve anything, this team is an offensive and defensive disaster right now.[/quote:280oer44] Actually, if he comes back and pitches well, I'm pretty sure that would fix one of the Mets' biggest problems. I concede that they have plenty of other problems as well.
  12. Time to fire the coaching staff. Can't fire the players, and I think the coaching staff actually bears a lot of the blame in the atrocious lack of fundamentals.
  13. The last Met I can remember actually throwing a purpose pitch was Duaner Sanchez hitting Miguel Cabrera semi-intentionally way back in '06.

    Ollie

I say bring him back anyway. Redding hasn't exactly lit the world on fire, y'know?
  15. Don't you fucking laugh, Nick Evans. There's nothing funny about you failing to give way to the centerfielder when you're supposed to. There's nothing funny about being down 5 runs. There was especially nothing funny about your misplay of Dobbs' flyball in the first inning.
  16. Leadoff walk to Schneider. Livan needs to be hitting here. No bunts.
  17. I was momentarily upset that Church didn't catch that ball, before I remember that I was just used to Beltran catching *everything.* Come back soon, Carlos.
  18. I may not necessarily disagree but my prediction is the contracts are an accurate indicator of what the Mets will do (ie. keep Redding in the majors).
  19. Redding has a guaranteed contract paying a couple of million dollars. Dessens doesn't.

  21. That's not good.
  22. Time to swing, Luis.
  23. NL Strikeout Leaders Reynolds, ARZ 110 Howard, PHI 92 Dunn, WAS 86 Wright, NYM 79 Soriano, CHC 77 Plus 3 more today for David.
  24. I own one of those and got tons of positive comments from complete strangers each time I've worn it to Shea the new park.
