  1. Buchholz, Boyer and Beato had already pitched in the game. Byrdak, Carrasco and Parnell each pitched ?1 inning yesterday. Rodriguez last pitched on Saturday. Who exactly should have pitched the eighth inning if not for Rodriguez? Keep in mind that the pitcher's spot had come up in the order and either Beato had to bat or a new pitcher had to come in the game. The only possible situation I could envision would have been to use Rodriguez in the spot where Beato or perhaps Boyer had pitched. Is that what you would have preferred?

  8. Looking like a bunch of little leaguers.

  10. I've seen enough. Time for some bullpen, Terry.
  11. We're off to a really ugly start courtesy Pelfrey's bad pitching and inexcusably poor defense.

  14. Ceetar wrote: Actually, that's not true. If the season ended right this moment, The Mets would be awarded the division, and the Phillies the Wild Card, because of their record against each other. It would be pretty strange if the season ended today. But IF IT DID, the Mets and Phillies would play a one-game playoff for the division, with the loser being in a 6-way tie for the Wildcard.

  16. Not mentioned in this thread: apparently (in the middle of the 8th?) there was another fan running on the field in Philadelphia. No taser action, unfortunately.
  17. Put it in the books!
  18. Loading the bases for Howard = not good.
  19. Can Young also fill-in in left field?

  21. Question for G-Fafif: Did you already assemble the list? Or are you working on it as the season goes on? Aside from #1 and #163 (the two easiest choices), I wonder what other games were "obvious picks" and what ones were the toughest to figure out.
  22. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It is likely that Jose's best years are behind him I'm not sure I agree with this. If Jose gets a 5 or 6 or 7 year contract, I certainly accept that there will be down years at the end of that deal. He still has 2 1/4 seasons before he even turns 30.
  23. April 30, 2010 more likely. Mets had just won seven games in a row. In that Philly series, the Mets won the first game; Halladay pitched a gem the second game, and Johan got shelled the third game.
